I love this. No surprise there.

Today I got a cup of coffee for a young male patient who was shaking so badly with alcohol withdrawal that he could not carry it himself. He asked me to write his name in the front of the Alcoholics Anonymous book he was reading, because he couldn't even hold a pen. I saw a Bible on his bedside table too. I pray that Nurse Jesus will visit that troubled young man in his hospital room. I have no way of comprehending all the pain from childhood and adolescence that may have contributed to the terrible condition this man is now in, but I'm sure there was plenty. I felt almost hopeless as I walked out of his room.

Almost without hope, but not completely. Please, Nurse Jesus, visit that young man for me.

I've seen Nurse Jesus in action. Holding a little girl shivering with a malarial fever.

And I am eternally grateful that Nurse Jesus was there, when I wasn't.

The announcement explains that they have agreed to "appoint an independent ombudsman to review past instances in which it is alleged that the University underserved a sexual victim or did not comply with the law in handling reports of abuse."

The "independent ombudsman" BJU has appointed is Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment (GRACE)!

Stay tuned for further developments! BJU has voluntarily placed itself in the hot seat! May God give them the courage and strength to accept and implement GRACE's findings and recommendations!

As opposed to running pell-mell in the opposite direction, as have some organizations we could name.

After reading this phrase "Dr. Jones wanted to make absolutely certain BJU’s policies and procedures both fully comply with the law and ensure a loving, scripturally based response." Red lights began flashing. "Scripturally based" Does he want forgiveness of abusers and organizations first. Is his response that different than the other organizations that have used GRACE then do nothing or very little. After on charge go in house with the rest. I am sorry but after dealing with Christian organizations for years I don't believe they ever have a right motive. Sure I am willing to try but will not be surprised if it doesn't work.

Shary, I am also suspicious but that has become my nature. ABWE has asked for the resignation of Don Davis and Russ Ebersole and I believe it is to preempt GRACE and make themselves look better. I should be happy they have done something positive but I just don't trust them. I think GRACE will soon have their investigation completed and ABWE knows that. They hired Showers Simms LLP for all other investigations of abuse that are outside of Bangladesh, that in itself makes me suspicious. I think they should have used GRACE as the Showers Simms LLP investigation results seem to be shrouded in secrecy and it was done in a such a short time. In saying all this I am still glad BJU are using GRACE. Full stop.
