If I might be so bold. One topic worth a little conversation at the conference is the case of the Bain family.

It has been mentioned on F.E. in the past and the point made that the ingredients that led to this shocking tragedy (5 out of 6 family members shot and the survivor jailed for their murder) are eerily present in other missionary families and if this can happen in a little country with a very low rate of gun ownership and few MKs, then it can happen anywhere.
And that is a very scary wake up call.

Do we know where our MK brothers are and what their state of mind is? Do we know what they have been through and bottled up? Do we know what and when something will trigger a reaction to years of pent up frustration and hurt?

I very much doubt it.

I also attended a conference in Chicago and one my office friend was also with me. The conference was arranged at a beautiful and well located . We enjoyed the amenities which they have provided us.

That's a great one! I can so relate!

We left NTM in 2001, and yet there are still a good number of mission barrel clothes in my closet!

But the extreme frugality which feels familiar to you and me is now part of "the good old days" I think.

Today's triber seems to be traveling frequently, attending meetings, seminars, workshops and conferences often, and spending money freely, with nice vehicles and up-to-date electronics, cameras, and all that is needed to keep a modern missionary productive (cough cough)

Up to date computers are essential to read the daily Triber news on Fanda Eagles, now that the Sanford Courier pigeon has fallen off it's perch
