Well, I stand corrected. I don't keep up on this blog consistently but I must say what you wrote about your mother doesn't sound like she is the sane person Bemused wrote about. Are they the same person?

Yes we are brother and sister. While I post a lot about my father and to a lesser extent about my mother (in a effort to help others not go down the sad route our family has and to provide background as to why I am the way I am), I have deliberately not mentioned the fact that I do have siblings. Like me they had no choice in where they grew up and the consequences of the decisions made by my father. However they of course have as much right to post here as I do, but posting here does come with consequences, in that it opens one's private lives in a public domain.
This is fine for me, there is not much to hide, I've bored most people silly with my constant posting. But my aim remains the same, I never want to any other child to go through what many of us did and I firmly believe that the conditions that were in place that allowed it to happen to us, have not changed that much to confidently say "this can never happen again". I firmly believe that the sexual molestation of a child is a serious crime and should be treated as such.

I realise that my family have different views on the scandal. Some choose to say nothing, this is their right. My father has stated he that "it is none of my concern" when confronted with the abuse that happened very close to us (and I mean very close). This for me is an unforgiveable act and gives the impetus for my staunch stand against him since this.

I lived for 30 years post being an MK on the field, with the deep suspicion that NTM was not the organisation it purported to be. This was based on my personal experience and what I saw. My father refused calls to have a family conference to air out the past and labeled my concerns as a "figment of my ungrateful immagination". When I discovered Fanda Eagles nearly 2 years ago it was a vindication of what I suspected, but on a much greater international scale.

I know my father has participated in the cover up of others criminal offending. This for me is abhorent. He of course is not alone, Crossview (NTM Australias new name) has one big scandal all over their hands and have done their utmost to cover it up.

As I have previously stated, my mother is a victim in this mess too. She was trapped and couldn't get out. She has been left with little option now but to follow my father and do what she is told.

The advent of modern communication has given many of us the ability to find help, support and healing. It has also forced some closets open and skeletons to emerge. This alas has sometimes split families and in my case it has terminated what was left of relationships.
There are always two sides to any story, I've had my say, and my family has the opportunity to have their say in whatever forum or way they wish. If they feel my recall of matters is not factual, then they are welcome to dispute them in private or public, or they can toddle round and spread the message that Bemused has lost the plot and has been infested by "bitter spirits", to which end the gullible will possibly believe them, but most will judge the matter on the evidence available.

To reiterate: For me, child abuse is wrong, sexual abuse is a criminal act and the defense or knowing coverup of it is at the least very wrong (and possibly also a criminal offense, depending on circumstances). While their is still a reasonable chance of attaining justice, making sure this never happens to others and attaining healing for those caught up in the mess, then speaking out is important to me. It is up to my family individually how they act.

My heart hurts for all the fractured families that have ties to NTM ... especially when NTM itself contributed to that fracturing. This is a tragedy on an immense scale, spread all around the world.

And today, on Mother's Day, my heart hurts particularly for all the mothers who are disconnected from their own children. Some of them know why. Some of them don't.

Today is a happy day for me personally, filled with much love and relationship-connection. But I am not forgetting the MKs -- and their mothers -- for whom this is not the case.
