Once a lady who was a seamstress and had made some dresses for another missionary who just loved them offered to make some for me. She took measurements. They did not fit and were quite ugly----I was so disappointed. But the strangest things happen to us, don't they?
There is a knack to finding good stuff in the MB.
Some parents did not have that knack and if their kids had "natural style" told them that was not godly etc.
If we looked nice, other miss people did not like it.
Looking back-----if you had anything new or had the privilege of going on a family trip just for together time and relaxation----you had to say----someone gave it to me/ or it was half off/ or SOMETHING to make it sound like it was not nice or fun or too expensive or too new, etc.
Second-hand life.
