Kiwi jailed for child sex photos taken overseas

An Auckland man who took photos of children being sexually exploited overseas has been sentenced to three years in jail.

Glenn Roderick Holland, 67, was due to be sentenced last week but it was delayed when he began vomiting in the dock and was taken to hospital.

In a New Zealand first, Holland was found guilty in December of being party to sexual conduct with a child outside New Zealand.

Customs officers found hundreds of child sex photos on his computer in 2007, including images of a seven-year-old girl with another man.

The Auckland police child exploitation team believed Holland took the photographs and were able to lay the serious sex charge when they learned the identity of the victim in Moscow.

It was the first time in a case such as this in New Zealand where investigators were able to interview the victim and her mother. Normally children and teenagers exploited overseas in child pornography are never found.

The pair flew to Auckland to give evidence against Holland.

Many of the pictures in his extensive collection were taken in countries such as Germany and Russia.

In Auckland District Court today, Holland was sentenced to three years for being a party to sexual conduct with a child outside New Zealand.

On a second count of knowingly being in possession of objectionable images he was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, to be served concurrently.

Holland has a history of taking what he calls "artistic" photos of young girls.

He was previously sentenced to two years jail in Australia in 1988 for sexually assaulting a young girl he had with him for a photographic modelling assignment.

Defence counsel told the court today that Holland had been assaulted at least three times while on remand in prison and was threatened on a daily basis.


A couple of points to note:
The only NTMer to be jailed for historic sex offences is a Kiwi, as far as I know no other country has accomplished this.
There are still 20 alledged sex offenders on the "Summary of Abuse" list who have not been to jail yet, or even been arrested, or possibly even been reported to the appropriate authorities.

It's time for America to get serious.

What is interesting is New Zealand has in their custody, someone of interest to the FBI. So much of interest that FBI agents were flown into the country to apprehend him.
And was he a mass murderer? No
A terrorist? No
A child abuser, rapist or fleeing NTM Paedophile? No, No, No.

His name is Kim Dot Com (he changed it by deed poll and is actually a German Citizen), and he's accused of being an internet pirate!

Maybe we should do a deal. Send down to us some of the paedophiles on that list (lets start with the one who has abused a kiwi) and we will lock them up. In exchange you can have Kim Dot Com, after all we only let him in the country because he was rich.

This story gets even more bizzare. The below article came out of the U.S. media and the Washington Post today accused NZ of having lax immigration laws and turning a blind eye to Kim DotCom's criminal past, to let him in because of his money (which of course we did, we ain't silly) after Australia and Canada refused to have him.

Days after police in New Zealand arrested Kim DotCom, the founder of cyberlocker service MegaUpload and accused pirate, journalists were chasing reports that a tank was parked on the front lawn of his Auckland home.

"National Radio (New Zealand) called me about a half hour ago because someone texted to say that there's an army tank on Kim's lawn that is aimed at the front gate," France Komoroske, an attorney and DotCom neighbor, wrote CNET. "They asked me to go take a look."

Now, before we go on, put yourself in the position of DotCom's neighbors or reporters covering this story. Ask yourself this: Why wouldn't there be a tank?

DotCom is the 6-foot-7, 300-pound former street racer and convicted felon who is relatively new to the area and known for driving around in exotic automobiles. The 38-year-old referred to himself as "God" and "Dr. Evil" and lived in a massive $24 million mansion. Only a week earlier, more than 70 police officers had stormed the home by helicopter to arrest him on charges of operating a massive Internet piracy empire.

Police hauled away millions in cash and had to remove DotCom from a specially designed safe room, where they discovered he owned specially designed semi-automatic shotguns.

After all this, what's too far-fetched? Who would blink if DotCom had built a secret underground lair beneath a volcano, or equipped his cars with ejection seats or defended his house with a tank?

That's the kind of thing criminal masterminds do in the movies, and for many years that's the image that DotCom went out of his way to construct for himself.

Nonetheless, the tank was a fake--albeit a good one. What people saw on DotCom's lawn was an inflatable, life-size balloon made to look like a Soviet-era T-72 Russian battle tank, reported the New Zealand Herald. A party was held for one of DotCom's children and an inflatable castle was also at the home but set up in the back, according to Komoroske.

So it took 70 police officers to arrest Kim DotCom, thats half of the NZ police force, as for the helicopter, we must have borrowed that from the FBI. Not really, they weren't NZ police, they were FBI.

My advice to Kim DotCom, get your name on the NTM summary of Abusers list, no chance of being caught then.
