Oh we've all seen those flight plans, they are pretty unbelievable.

That was a little hard to follow at midnight, Bemused, but yes ... it does make sense.

Sadly it does make sense Bemused.

It was written to lighten up things, but is making me more angry.

A note of explanation. I often nursed dying patients in my nursing days. They knew they were dying, I knew they were dying, so we often deliberately talked about other things and that often involved humour. Over the decades I nursed I had many beautiful letters and compliments about how this technique worked.
It didn't change the inevitable, or save one life, but it did make the task in hand easier for all concerned.
The bottom line for me was that whatever it took to make the passing of a patient easier for the family and the patient, then that was fine by me. The best nurse I ever worked with in this situation, has four legs and a waggy tail. You can't beat a little dog for being able to do wonders in a difficult situation.

Anyway I digress.

I understand your reasoning Bemused and am sure you were a great nurse and I do like your humor.

I am saying it angers me more that ntm is so misleading and dishonest. My example is the deletions on their website that some of you recently pointed out. That is what angers me. Not your good humor.

That is very kind of you. I'm pretty disillusioned by NTM, especially now.

Today I got an e-mail from someone in NTM, I'd ended up on their mailing list when I wrote to them as one MK to another. They sent a quick reply to say they were busy and would get back to me. Never heard a thing till I got an e-mail news letter and guess what, they need money for their ministry. Oh and one more thing, their ministry is that they will be helping MKs.

So I'm being asked to fund someone to help MKs who can't actually reply to a nice letter from an MK. What is this person going to do when the first abuse victim ends up on their doorstep, broken, confused and rejected by NTM? Get me to sort it out?

Maybe I'm just an aging bitter cynical MK? Or maybe I'm suffering righteous indignation? But if this is as good as NTM can do, heaven help any MK who had a childhood like mine and reaches out, cuz there sure are a lot of us.

Cynicism abounds here, I'm afraid.

NTM has a robust MK care program for the healthy MKs. The ones who are potential future candidates for their mission. After all, much of the growth of NTM over the years has been due to the return of MKs (like myself) to faithfully serve on the field as adults.

I thought it was nice, how much NTM cared about MKs, until I joined this Forum and began hearing of very different experiences from adult MKs who will probably never become missionaries themselves.

The gist of those experiences are things like this:

You're just bitter and vengeful.

You need to forgive and move on.

That's just the way things were back then.

We are going to be capping the amount we will pay for your counselling bills at $xxxx.

No, we won't be helping you to attend a conference for abused MKs. We already agreed to pay for a couple of others, and we can't afford to pay for you too.

Are you sure you were really abused? Your story sounds like something you might have heard from MK Z ... maybe you're just imagining it all.
