Bemused, you probably hit the nail on the head for many who are put in positions such as yours. Sometimes when I try to put my head around this I have to ask myself, "How did this ever happen?" It is bad enough there are pedophiles out there but to have them protected is beyond understanding. No reason is good enough for what NTM has allowed, no reason at all. Full stop.

In the world of "missions" it is still happening. Missionaries fear to be what they think God wants them to be because the mission organizations and the supporters have a lot of control. They feel they are between a rock and a hard place. They need to "fit in" to all types of situations whether they are comfortable with it or not. They want to feel successful and part of something. In other words they have to compromise. The group mentality is well and truly alive. The fact that these parents will sacrifice their own children for their ministry is proof of this. My husband is one of the few who refuses and yes it has caused us lots of headaches and I might say heartaches but it is what it is. The fact we use our name goes against us but that is just the way we are. To continue my rambling I believe men want to be a part of something that appears "great" and they will sacrifice anything to be a part of that "greatness" and woman are not much different. In closing I might add it is hard to stand alone, it is hard to go against the majority and if you do the accusations are numerable. The one used the most is "you can't get along with anyone." The Christian world does not like the word "independent" as they want you to be dependent so you can be controlled. Yes, they say depend on God but their actions say you must be dependent on us. Full stop.

Standing for truth has been worth it for us
And also full of heartbreak.
Anywhere in the world it is the same--
People want recognition/ power/ control.
And they become very angry if one points out their compromises.
But to stand there and watch them teach truth--real truth in some cases--
And then act in a different way out of the teaching situation--
Avoiding real relationships because they may be found out--
Respected by those they are nice to
Feared or disliked by those whom they abuse--
Is painful to say the least.

In countries with dictators and socialist governments, the State is your parents. You are a child of the State and your biological parents are there to procreate and then hand you on to be educated, moulded and group think by the State. And if the parents don't follow the rules . . .
