No, the ends does not justify the means, if the means is to high a price to pay. To sacrifice one's own life for one's cause is a noble act, but to throw away others (like one's own children) is a callous misguided act and boarders on a cult mentality.

We had drummed into us in our endless religious classes that it was misguided others who believed that "the ends justified the means". Like we had drummed into us that anyone who did not agree with the NTM narrow view of the world was a lesser Christian or in a cult/sect.
If only a mirror had been held up to the hardliners, they would have seen that they were exactly the people they were seeing in others and ranting about. But mirrors weren't allowed, because the ends did justify the means and only the spiritually imperfect dared to question matters of faith.

It took me years to come to the conclusion that I had been raised in a cultish group and that within that group, the subgroup that was my family was lead by a very cultish figure, who believed they were the only one to know the true "ends" and that their "means" was totally justifiable, no matter how absolutely mad it was.

Oh the freedom of mind to be past this, but oh the moral responsibility of feeling it is ones duty to try and clean up the mess of it.

So someone can be part of NTM and Radius? What happened to not serving two masters?

George Walker was in PNG and worked in the Sepik with Bob Kennell, I believe he is related to Scott Kennell.

I remember the kindness George and Harriet showed me when I was in PNG. I went to stay with them for a week as a late teenager and also when I went back as an adult to see my parents.
Alas innocent people get caught up in this mess to often.

When we were still in the mission, my husband and I used to say getting out of NTM was like trying to get off a moving train. Some were pushed off, and that was often very painful, even devastating. Others jumped off, but they too seemed to suffer injuries and took some time to heal.

We were fortunate to get off at a stage when the train must have slowed down, because our descent was rather graceful, and we stepped off, rather than tumbling off, or being kicked off.

Maybe that has helped me be strong enough to stay in the struggle here on FE for over 5 years now. I didn't have any broken limbs from back when I disembarked the NTM train in 2001.

I jumped off the train first opportunity that came and vowed never to get back on.

So now I am wondering why I seem to be continually chasing the train, trying to tell the driver that he is on the wrong track and that Golf Oscar Delta has been off loaded by mistake?
