And Paul Flaming rises from the ashes again!

I laughed out loud at this one. Not ROFL, because I'm too old to roll on the floor. ;)

Also, my favorite line: "New Tribes Mission is committed to serving the local church and getting the gospel out to the ends of the earth, something that other mission boards have not done over the years."

NTM needs many more such staunch defenders!

Blogs may come and go, but ignorance lives forever.

:)

One more thing, Paul Flaming (love the name, BTW (as we say in my circles)), did they still play that tape when you went through the training, of that old-timer reminiscing about the founder of your mission?

And did you crack up, like I did, when he intoned, "And when Paul Fleming died a fiery death on the slopes of Mt. Moran, God said, 'Well done, thou good and faithful servant!'"

Well done. Fiery death. Get it?

:)

*****

Lest anyone think I am being irreverent about a great man who was highly motivated by an intense passion for the neglected tribal people of the world, I hasten to say I am not. On the contrary, I believe that that man would be deeply grieved by what has happened in and to the organization he founded.

He would not even recognize the New Tribes Mission of today.

I never knew Paul Fleming, but I did toddle around Fouts Springs Boot Camp, so I think my perspective on NTM reaches back a long way.

"Happy New Year, Red Baron. I enjoy reading your carp, so keep writhing."

Congratulations, Raz!
That's even better than Red Barren himself.

I still cannot believe that this person - Paul Flaming - Red Baron - or whoever it is (I was going to put whatever it is... ) still does not understand the reality of this.
NTM may have done many 'good' things, but they have also done many many very very very bad things.
Time to stop passing the buck, to face the music and then take the consequences.

Just when you think you've heard everything, the story that anything is possible.

Could this be where Red Baron is?

Oh dear.

This story just makes me laugh with delight!

Fundamentalists of the world are horrified, on so many levels.

But I think God can't help but smile.

Can you imagine the dilemma if this couple applied at a "fundamentalist" mission.

Leader One. A young couple who are not married and gamble, but have kids want to join us brother John!

Leader Two. We will pray for their lost souls, that they might see the error of their ways, get the secretary to draft a letter advising them that we are a holy mission who does not tolerate such iniquities.

Leader One. Pity, they just won $15 million, brother John.

Leader Two. Second thoughts, organise a retrospective wedding, get that red carpet out quick and tell the choir to practise "We Welcome You . . ."

:?

Paul Flaming doesn't think the whole mission should be shut down.

He says there is more to consider in life than just what is right and wrong.

http://pleasecutthecrap.blogspot.com/

Naturally, since he's a member of NTM himself, he wouldn't want it shut down!

He probably won't mind though if it changes names, changes headquarters buildings, or can't find the money to pay settlements to the MKs who have filed lawsuits.

He doesn't have a high opinion of crap. Neither do I.
