Tuti Hess, I think most of our bubbles have busted, it is a very sad day when mission organizations would rather self preserve than help preserve. Too bad others just won't face the truth but our time isn't always God's time. Your post encouraged me. Full stop.

Raz, that's one of the best summaries of the situation that I have heard since I became aware of it. I have to agree with you wholeheartedly.

I hope that someone within NTM will come to these same realizations and change their course. If they do, I will give them my full support, but I don't hold much hope of that happening. If they don't, I will continue to support the victims and supporters on this site and do what I can to try to achieve some measure of justice, even if that means the demise of the mission.

The choice is up to them.

Wow Raz, that was awesome! Thanks so much for that concise summation. You put into words what I have been feeling for such a long time. The reason I have hesitated to completely condemn New Tribes is the fact that God has chosen to still work through them by advancing the gospel and bringing many unreached people groups to Christ and also Bible translation. Just over a week ago another people group heard the gospel for the first time. It's interesting to note that in Senegal there has not been that much success in fact some villages have outright mocked the mission and mocked God as being weak and exalted Islam. In PNG however where it looks like there was similar abuse many people groups have come to Christ. I can't figure it out but I know God is in charge.

This is the challenge that despite our sin/crimes/offenses God continues to use us. The crimes of the past are being visited on the people of the present, people who had nothing to do with what happened years ago. Is that fair? No. Is it fair that children were raped, beaten and abused by people who daily took the Lords name in vain? No. There are no easy answers to the mess we find ourselves in now. All I know is the consequences are far reaching for everybody involved. I don't blame the victims and their families - I blame the abusers and the leaders of the past. Damn, they have a lot to answer for. Some have died and that's as it should be, maybe the burden of guilt was too much for them. I don't know.

There are times when we find ourselves in places that we would rather not be and question the sanity of what is happening, it takes a brave person to look at the situation as a whole and see what has happened, then do something about it (like speaking out or posting here).

It is a bit like the situation I find myself in at the facility where I work. We have a nasty case of Diahorrea and Vomiting going through at the moment. It isn't my fault, I don't like what I see (and smell ), but as I'm in charge, it is up to me to get it sorted out to the best of my ability. The treatment is a bit drastic and patients rights of movement are now restricted by isolation procedures, but it is what has to be done, otherwise it will spread further than it has already.
About now I too would dearly love to have another job, but that is what I do for a living and there is a moral obligation to help clean up the mess.
