Kind of along the same lines but another nuance. In talking to a friend it came out that some people are considered expendable and others are greatly wanted and needed. These so called expendable people may be stuck out in the bush, there are money worries, and other anxieties they are powerless to do much. I don't want to say that the leadership uses this against them to keep them in submission but there is a power play thing going on whether it is intentional or not. Don't want to go into details but an example arose about the policy regarding home schooling. Years ago it was very frowned on and discouraged. A Doctor was greatly needed on a field and they found a family willing to come and serve but the wife insisted that she home school her children on the base instead of sending them to the boarding school. The leadership eventually agreed which in turn opened the door for others to pursue home schooling. It did not matter that others had been trying to do homeschooling for some time but had been discouraged and bullied about it instead of an attitude of understanding and support. Sometimes I feel guilty because I guess I see my family as one of those who are perceived as being needed maybe that is why we have been treated better than others. As I said I don't see us as any different we are just ordinary people not exceptional.
