Or as Mrs Bemused's favourite T-shirt says:

Ten Reasons to Procrastinate:
1)

8-)

"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great." - Mark Twain

I for one had far to many adults in my boarding school childhood belittling my ambitions. There was little praise, just critisism and constantly being told that because some other MK towed the "religous line" they were better.
But I learnt that being honest was better than just saying what someone else wanted to hear. That to surround oneself with those who try to understand ones ambition is wonderful and to ignore those who constantly belittle those ambitions. And above all one has to believe in ones own abilities, before anyone else will.

"Knowledge is realising the street is one-way, wisdom is looking both directions anyway" - anon

I grew up hearing endless lectures about the evils of "cults" and other "false religons". And yet 99.9% of the world was not on the same one-way street as we were as children. As an adult who has looked in both directions, there is much wisdom in other "religons" if one takes the time to look in both directions before crossing the road.

"People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it." - George Bernard Shaw

"It can be done, just think outside the square and if you wish to interrupt to advise that thinking outside the square is not going to work, because you like circles, take a number and join the line up  " - Bemused

However many holy words you read, however many you speak, what good will they do you if you do not act on upon them?

Buddha?

Let's try someone a little closer to some of our beliefs:

"Tchividjian is hopeful that NTM will respond appropriately to its own scandal. "Right now, words mean nothing," he said. "Actions are going to be key." The attorney sees an opportunity for the missions organization to respond in a way that other ministries have not: "If they do the right thing, it will be groundbreaking." (Lead lawyer and CEO of GRACE)

See article in World Magazine----try some of the other articles listed under Media on the main page. A little sickening at this juncture.
