Questions for the day: Is anyone else having trouble with this site dropping off the radar screen? It keeps disappearing for hours at a time, but other sites are o.k. Should I be taking my paranoia medication again, or is there some logical explanation?
Secondly, excuse my ignorance, but what is a "paralegal"? I know what a paramedic is, another name for an ambulance officer. And why does NTM need one, isn't the great dispenser of Justice on their side or did "living by faith and God providing" stop being the mantra recently.

Yes, Bemused, I'm having trouble getting onto this site also. I don't recall that we've ever had an issue like this before. It started early yesterday morning, and has continued into today. When it first happened yesterday I panicked, as though my entire "family" was about to disappear! I thought we were being sabotaged. Blown up. But now I see it's sporadic. Still though, it might be a harbinger of disaster ahead.

Our Site Administrators are Kari and Bonnie. I don't think either of them check in here much anymore. This place has kind of taken on a life of its own. (You mean nobody's in charge? Yikes!!)

But you could contact them and let them know we're all having issues with this, if you like. They would probably enjoy meeting the new guy with the Kiwi accent!

The jobs must have been posted recently as I had checked a few days ago (just out of curiosity) whether there were any "lawyer" postings, and there were none. I was a little surprised, to be honest. They have a lot of legal sh*t to deal with.

A paralegal is generally somebody who assists lawyers with their work...the lawyer may know what and why, but the paralegal often knows when, where, and how.

To be honest, I would expect an organization like NTM to have several full time legal personnel on staff - just to keep up with all the rules, regulations, and compliance involved with running a large organization operating in multiple jurisdictions and countries, let alone keeping up with the Jane Does.

I am following this thread and do know bangladeshmksspeak have just lost a thread, no idea whether there is a connection or not or whether it is just technology that causes these things to happen, just for your information, that's all. One thing I do know these mission boards I reckon would go to any length to stop this exposure. Full stop.

I am filling in for Bonnie and Kari in the administrative department while they take a much deserved rest. I have not noticed any unusual outages with regard to the site.
I am generally on early morning and at night to check in (and nail the spammers). Feel free to let me know of any specific problems that come up.

Just curious. How do retired missionaries support themselves. Once we downunder get to 65 we get a pension, even if we never contributed to it (see why the country is broke ). It's not exactly generous, but healthcare is free and there are top ups and allowances for a few things, so it is liveable.
Anybody know what it costs to stay in NTM retirement homes? Here it is about $500 U.S. for basic care, more if you need hospital level care. Once your assets drop below a certain level, the govt picks up the tab.
Of course this is all under review, cuz we can't afford all the people my age who will end up in resthomes in bulk. So might have to work till I'm 92.
