Kari---Is there ANYTHING encouraging you can share these days?
The main page is SO scant on postings---unless my computer is ignoring them. Ha! My husband reminds me that *I* am responsible for what goes on and the computer does not act alone.
Is GRACE taking more stories?--we have heard they are. Working on our documentation right now.
We do not plan on giving up. We do get weary. And angry. And encouraged.
What do you say?

We're really just waiting and seeing now. I'm encouraged that NTM for all their meetings and lack of action truly is handling this better than we could have expected. I'm so so grateful that they hired GRACE as the investigative team, and I'm grateful that Larry Brown seems to be taking this seriously. I'm grateful for Tibby Westcott who has been wonderful to work with and I'm grateful that NTM is paying my counseling costs cheerfully.

As I receive emails from other MKs with other missions, many of whom are handling their own abuse allegations HORRIBLY, I'm struck by how, even though NTM has done so much wrong in this whole process, they really seem to be trying and they have done some things so right. Namely, hiring GRACE.

I'm eager to see the other schools investigated.

Kari, it's great to see your post and receive some encouraging news! You have a perspective the rest of us don't have, and I am really pleased to hear some hopefulness from you.
From where I sit there is still a Huge Great Long Silence from NTM, and it's been very hard to keep my spirits up.

are we MKs who have been fighting this for so long drifting into and unconscious collusion?

Do the mission boards really have us in their control? They confess and go through a lot of meetings, "help" some of the most verbal then settle back and think they have taken care of that one, now lets get on with our mission. The comments from MKs in the NTM has slowed a lot, the MKs from Mamou make very few comments. They have worn us down and so gained control again. Yet many of us are just starting heal. We are struggling alone or in small groups on the internet. Missions have no interest in our healing. It has cost many a lot, failed marriages, lost jobs, addictions, poor parenting skills, and the list goes on, I'm sure you can add to it.

My observation is that the mission boards have not changed at all, they still do not understand the basic truth that wrong must be exposed to the world and amends made. In the case of abuse it must be turned over to legal authorities. They are still protecting wrong doers, especially those who cover up the wrongs. Is there anything we need to do to help them understand?

I think that the GRACE report and the stories told here show the true nature of NTM. How they deal with it will reveal their true character.
