Sorry I cannot contain myself any longer. Why is there not an outrage that a few people are calling NTM a cult or cult like and being allowed to get away with it? Why are the staunch defenders of the faith who have given there all for the lost not up in arms over this blasphemy?
Are those that read and disagree with the assertion that NTM is a cult so terrified of the eloquence of Bemused that they are speechless? Surely NTM members and their supporters have more backbone than to be terrified of speaking out, unless they are not allowed to do so and if that is the case then Bemused is on the right track.

Or maybe I have got it all wrong and the majority agree that NTM is a cult and are silently nodding. But then what are the moral obligations if one does agree, surely not to sit back and do nothing, knowing that a group with such a proven track record of child abuse is acting in a cult like manner?

Like the issue of child abuse itself, this is huge and there is no justification that I can think of for doing nothing about it. If NTM really is a cult, with it's horrific history of covering up child abuse, then only those who speak out in opposition can hold their heads up high. On the other hand if it is an organisation that has truly made amends for its past and is now back on track doing Gods work, then it deserves to be defended.

Is NTM a cult, a sect or normal? It's a very good question. God help us all if Bemused is right and looking at the evidence I'm terrified he could well be!

You make some very good points!

My observation is that the fortress walls are very, very thick. I have been reminded in recent weeks that by and large, current members of NTM are oblivious to the things we post here, the information we give, and the questions we pose. They were told four or five years ago that the mission was handling everything in a Godly way, everything was under control, and everything is fine. They believe that independent investigations have been or are being done into abuse allegations, and all parties are satisfied. They have never read the Forums discussions here, and they have no interest in doing so.

I know that in the past there were NTM members reading the Forums. I know because there were some who told me. And you know what? Those people have left the mission. The failed response on the part of NTM to MK abuse played a big part in their decision that they could no longer stay in the mission. So they are gone. Some of them told me they might post here on FE in the future, but they haven't done so. If they are still reading, I wish they would join in on the discussion, because their voices would be very welcome here!

I also know that there are people in NTM leadership who read what we write here. They read, but they will remain silent. They will never reveal to us what they think. If they think.

I do not know if the common people behind the fortress walls have been forbidden to read Fanda Eagles. But it wouldn't surprise me if they have been. And it also wouldn't surprise me if they obeyed.

I fear you are right. In my association with NTM, much of daily life was heavily controlled, including information sources. So it is quite possible that Fanda Eagles is viewed like Communism, a big evil that must not be seen to be associated with. I remember so many who packed their bags and left over the years, but I don't think many had the courage to say why exactly they left and they never looked back when they did. There was always an excuse for leaving, like medical needs or being called to another ministry, rarely because it was such a bad environment to be in.

I have heard that NTM has told their members that the child abuse issue is resolved. But wasn't there a very recent case where a member went to jail? How did that happen and why is there no mention of it on the NTM website? A website that seems to be obsessed with raising funds and has so many people who are home here in the States. Why are there so many NTM members who are floating around the States, what are they all doing? There are just to many things that don't add up about NTM, things that really make me wonder what really is going on behind those thick fortress walls. But why have walls if there is nothing to hide? Given that the child abuse scandal was hidden so well for so long, what else are we going to find out?

To bad, so sad, who cares, I was just carrying out orders, I didn't know and now I've washed my hands and spread the message to forgive and forget, case closed!

I like this thread, because it reminds me that it is no shame to be a Christian.

It reminds me that NTM has wandered far from the love of God. It reminds me that once your eyes have been opened to the true nature of an organisation, it is possible to transcend the evil of the past and realises that there is a loving God. A God who surely must shake His head in shame at the disgrace that NTM has become. Who looks at the leadership who lack the moral courage to truly love God, but instead have fallen in love with money, the root of all evil.
It reminds me that when I ran away from NTM, I was not only doing the right thing but was brave and despite all my human failings, I have taken the right path.
Sometimes it costs a lot to be brave, but what other option is there, live a lie?
