It's Monday down here now
The sun is almost out of bed
And it looks like it will be
A nice warm day ahead

How goes Sunday up North
Are you knee deep in lovely snow
And the fire a very
Very warming glow

Not long till Christmas
Cards are hanging on the wall
Us silly Downunders
Have pictures that make no sense at all

We send scenes of snow and reindeer
When it's roasting hot outside
And Santa dresses up in hot clothes
In which he gets really fried

And we sing songs like Jingle Bells
In a season that never snows
So you can call us crazy Kiwis
Cuz that's how life goes

Haha! That is pretty crazy, isn't it!

Seems like your Santa should be in a speedo, with a sleigh pulled by hopping kangaroos ... or something like that ...

Or maybe you should just move Christmas to July?

A Little Christmas Story


Twas the night before Christmas
Three good men of NTM
Were driving across the state
When their engine coughed "ahem"

Being of practical persuasion
They realised what had come to pass
For the needle read EMPTY
Yes, they were out of gas

Up ahead they spied a farmhouse
And trudging through the snow
They knocked upon the door
And a little light did quickly show

The farmer was most gracious
He explained he would make exception to his rule
For being Christmas Eve and they good men
He felt generosity to all

However he did have to advise them
That although gas he had to spare
He only had an old bedpan
With which to transport gas from here to there

The good men of NTM smiled
For the Lord provided in mysterious ways
And they thanked the kind farmer
And wished him many blessed days

So back to their vehicle
They trudged back through the snow
And began to pour the contents of said bedpan
Into the tank and make the car then go

Just at the moment of pouring
Another motorist pulled alongside
And it was obvious he was a priest
For his dog collar he did not hide

His eyes widened in amazement
As he saw the Triber three
Filling up the gas tank
From a receptacle usually used for pee

"Brothers" he addressed them
"I am of your faith not a member
But on this Holy Holy night
Your faith I will always remember"

In wondrous ways indeed.

I am so glad you are speaking up ... for yourself, and for so many others, most of whom are very silently suffering.

Christmas blessings to you and yours. The original Christmas story demonstrates genuine empathy ... in a way few Christ-followers do.

So that was Christmas
Well it was down here
But wait a bit of excitement
Listen, draw near

For Santa was exhausted
It's such a long way
He was tired and worn out
From driving the sleigh

"Santa" I said
"Allow me to drive
You put up your feet
And with whisky revive"

I took up the reigns
I showed Santa a trick
We went loop de loop
Through clouds big and thick

Then I remembered
At the top of the arc
If you go upside down
Presents fall in the dark

So all the presents
Dropped from the sleigh
And floated down
In a lovely display

And so did Santa's book
Of the naughty and nice
Which causes a problem
An explanation to arise

O.k. here goes
If you were good this year
And no present you got
It's been lost down here

For this I apologise
But hey someone elses gain
So better luck next time
When I'm driving a train

But if you were naughty
(And I know your name)
Don't mention myself
As you apportion the blame

For that book of Santa's
Is tucked up at my house
And I know who was good
Who was rat and church mouse

And oh the names
You would be surprised to read
But I'm not one to gossip
So the conscience all must heed

Now time for Bemused
To be gone and not near
For after this disaster
It is time to disappear

Haha! That's great!

Yes, Santa is no doubt exhausted. Not unlike some of us eagles, who have been toiling away to see things done right: validation for those who have been patiently waiting, doing their best ... and coal for those who have been bad.

Exhausted.
