I don't think I actually had any bubble to burst. The silent-parent phenomenon is something I've observed for 20 years and been baffled by. This open letter was just a flying leap of faith into the unknown. I had no idea where this would lead, and the continued silence of most parents is just more of the usual, as you point out.
Of course Mr Larry Brown is not going to distribute this letter to the faithful (who have lost the ability to think for themselves). This letter is saying the boarding school concept in itself was horribly, reprehensibly WRONG. No small child of 6 or 7 (and even some who were only 5!) should be separated from their parents for months at a time. No mission is ever going to admit that this was ALL WRONG.
But I am going to keep pointing that out, anyhow. For as long as I am alive.
(Maybe on that day when they did the operation to remove part of my brain, the scalpel slipped, and instead they removed my ability to shut up!
Keep that chainsaw sharpened up, Aussie ... I may borrow it one of these days!)
