I have been wondering for 20 years where the parents of abused MKs are. I know WHO many of them are. But they are not here fighting alongside me.

I have never understood this. Never understood this in 20 years of struggling on my own. By myself.

I don't understand you, parents.

But I am not deterred.

Ah but you don't struggle alone now. After decades of individually wrestling with the mess of the past, here we are on the same path. Yes I know I am a person of dubious faith, but hopefully an honest person of dubious faith, worthy of keeping company with.

Yes we've had our moments of humour in other posts (it keeps us sane), but as you so kindly point out, this is the nuts and bolts thread.

I too know parents who have just meekly accepted that child abuse is part of the NTM experience and it staggers me that they can be so desperate to hang on to whatever they thought they were getting from NTM or any other mission that they would not even stand up for their own children, let alone the children of their co workers.

I am glad of your company, it might be a winding road, but it is the one for those who dare say, "What on earth is going on?"

Must be something about you men from New Zealand, Bemused. When we were there on hols I remember watching the news in our motel room and a father took the law in his own hands when he found out his child had been molested. I think he walked but not for sure. I just remember thinking "good on him." Full stop.

Speaking of "The World", this is a global problem, not just a couple of countries. There are missions in probably almost every country of the globe, even those countries that don't allow missions (they are underground or under the cover of humanatarian causes).

So logic would decree that the best people to make a real noise about this are people who have traveled internationally and have a working knowledge of other cultures and mission subcultures. Ummmm wonder where we can find such a group of well qualified individuals

Oh silly me, it's me, it's you, it's the MKs who haven't spoken up yet and it's the parents of the abused .

Wouldn't it be nice to leave the world a safer place for the next generation by putting a bit of effort in ourselves. Never know, might even be a few riches beyond the Pearly Gates for those who care for the future children, I think I read something to that effect once.
