Relaxing this weekend, reading an enjoyable novel, I stumbled on a bit that described what was endured by my siblings and others on the field.

"The children could hardly move without being accused of sinning, and the beatings they received from ***** were administered with a God-fearing and stern hand. Today she would probably be called a sadist, but in those days it was totally acceptable to hide such propensities under the guise of religion."

Certainly, my parents had a conscience and did what they truly believed was right, but, as we've seen on these forums, there were many in NTM who either had no conscience or allowed their consciences to become almost non-existent. They did what was "right in their own eyes" with no regard to the consequences to innocent children or anyone who got in their way.

I think some of the problem with the way things were run and why so many won't come forward today was the saying that we heard TOO OFTEN. " Kids are to be seen and never heard". Part of the 'good testimony' part. But lets face it,,,there are some NTM families I have had in my home that were NEVER asked back. Their kids were so horrible. Balance is the key and that wasn't taught in my training with NTM. Spankings were it, training was it and if not done enough in their eyes you were talked too. "Balance is so important and needs to be learned.
