Your voice is welcome here. We are all learning and growing, and we want this to be a safe place that brings healing and restoration.

You are right, family IS important. There is way too much pain in many of our families. May God heal us all.

Two soldiers standing next to each other a land mine blows up. Both have the same injury, both go to the hospital, both heal physically, one is fine and goes back into the battle, the other has PTSD for years. A story I heard at the Penn State Conference on child abuse. The same is true in our MK experience, we all respond differently. The most important thing is to listen to each other and believe. We all come to things differently in life.

We have a tendency to accept this for some things. I have been a food service manager. As different groups came in I knew certain groups loved one dish and others disliked it. We accept that our tastes are different. We need to accept that how each of us responds to the horrid evil of sexual abuse will be different.

Proud to be Kiwi and Bemused keep talking and most of all keep listening to each other. No one has to take sides to accept how you feel. I know from experience that I have wanted people to take my side to prove they believe me. But I have found those who helped me the most did not take sides but just believed me and loved me. Real love accepts where I am right now, sees hope for the future even when I don't. Real love knows we are all on a journey and around the corner the scenery changes. Today I am not who I was yesterday, tomorrow I will not be who I am today. Thank God.

I feel sad when I read this thread and I hope you get a good reply. So many families Downunder have been wrecked by parents blindly following NTM, it is too horrible for words.
Our families served NTM the hardest and we were treated the worst. Now this is what happens and we are just dumped on the scrap heap, because NTM doesn't care or want to know.

My heart break for so many who have broken or even never formed relationships with siblings. In our boarding school sibling were purposely kept apart. For years my sister and I had a formal relationship. But now we are best friends supporting one another. Such sad stories of broken families. And yes the mission boards felt sacrificing children was a godly thing to do. Offer your children to the gods just as the heathen. But we can over come this too. We are strong even strong enough to be honest with one another, something most missions have not learned.
