Let me give you an example. I am a Registered Nurse. If I commit a felony I will be struck off. Not just a felony at work, but a felony anywhere, because I have to be judged a fit and proper person to have the lives of others in my hands.
So to with missionaries, it is a vocation, not a 9 to 5 occupation. If you are dealing in child porn and molesting at night, then you should not be a missionary, just like I should not be a nurse if I was doing this sort of thing.

NTM is completely deluded if they think that somehow this is not their problem or it happened in someones private lives.

I agree. If that is what they are saying, then yes, they ARE deluded.

The NTM I spent almost 50 years in would have never separated one's personal life from one's missionary life. Being a missionary was a 24-7 identity. That's why I'm confused by this statement. If NTM now considers that only what a member does during their "ministry" time is the responsibility of the mission, and not what is done during "personal" time, then wow, that is a MAJOR perspective shift, and one I don't understand at all!

Perhaps an explanation from Sanford would be in order.

I am pretty sure that means "We will have nothing further to say about this. Nothing at all. So don't ask."

The cowardice and duplicity of these people absolutely amazes me.

It is cowardly to have a woman media spokesperson. Anyone who knows NTM knows women have zero power. Send out a leader. Send out Brian. NTM never ceases to amaze me in how they can even mess up their "outrage" at evil.

NTM are contorting themselves into any shape it takes to get through this mess with the least amount of damage possible. They are applying teflon coating to the leaders as we speak (type).

They remind me of a bacteria or virus changing its DNA structure to survive the latest developed treatment.

They are indeed "all things to all men". Sorry I am out of touch with bible references these days, but I know that verse is in there somewhere. I am sure the apostle Paul said it.

Am just now catching this news...it is sickening. And yet, as others have pointed out, proof that the abuse is ongoing and not just old news. So glad they caught him like they did. It will be much harder to sweep this under the rug now with all the press on it.
