A very sobering observation my friend. I think the two of us have not the faith of others in the ability or desire of NTM to do the right thing.
Alas for us the journey with NTM has been one of neglect, ignorance and being ignored, for we are just little voices from a land that time has forgot.
Also throw into the mix the threats Crossview makes when approached and their denials of their past with NTM (except when it comes to fundraising, when they are united in common cause, as per their website) and I understand the concern that nothing will have been or is likely to be done for the victims of Scott Kennell.
Therefore I echo my respected friends sentiments, let us and the world see that NTM really does care for the victims of a very recent offender. And not just care because they are scared to be seen not caring, but because they genuinely do.
I wait to have my doubts rescinded.

Remember, when we first heard about Scott Kennell's arrest, what NTM's statement was at that time?

"We are heartsick that children have been victimized. While we are trying to confirm whether there is a connection between the accused's personal actions and our organization, we have put the accused on immediate leave."

I am sure that NTM was able to confirm that there was no specific connection between Mr. Kennell's personal actions and the venerable organization that was supposed to be responsible for him.

Therefore, if the production and distribution of his child pornography was not done under the auspices of NTM, his victims are not actually victims of NTM. I suppose that's how a majority of tribers and their supporters see it.

"Please move along. Nothing to see here, folks."

If NTM has used this logic to dismiss their responsibility to the Brazilian victims then this needs to be exposed.

I am disgusted to hear this, very very disgusted, but not entirely surprised. NTM will not do the right thing until forced to by someone with a very big stick. For a so called Christian organisation this is a disgrace to the name of Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on NTM, lets have some answers about what you have done to help these poor innocent children, or do you want us to find someone who will drag the answers out of you????????

Retired Navy officer, ex-missionary to be sentenced in child-porn cases

A retired Navy officer who worked for the Joint Strike Fighter program, and a former missionary for the New Tribes Mission, are slated to be sentenced in separate child-sex exploitation cases next week in Orlando federal court.

Bruce Babchyck, the retired officer, pleaded guilty last year to one child-pornography charge, admitting he used his government computer to copy hundreds of images of child pornography.

According to authorities, Babchyck visited websites that host child pornography and copied the images to several hard drives.

Court records said there were hundreds of gigabytes of child pornography on the devices. Some pictures depicted bestiality, Babchyck's plea agreement said.

He previously wrote a letter to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, apologizing for his actions.

Babchyck will be sentenced Monday.

On Tuesday, Warren Scott Kennell, who worked for the Sanford-based New Tribes Mission, will learn how much time he could spend in prison for producing child pornography of girls in the Amazon.

Agents began investigating Kennell, who lived in New Jersey, after receiving a tip that he posted pictures on a website used by child pornographers.

Law-enforcement stopped Kennell at Orlando International Airport in May when he arrived from a flight that originated in Brazil.

Court records said agents found more than 940 images of child pornography on Kennell's external hard drive.

Kennell admitted he abused a girl in one picture and was responsible for photographing a second girl.

Authorities said the sex abuse occurred when Kennell worked in Brazil and the victims are part of an indigenous tribe.

He pleaded guilty to two child pornography charges in September.

Former missionary gets 58 years in prison on child pornography charges

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A former missionary was sentenced to 58 years in prison on child pornography charges Tuesday.
Warren Scott Kennell was arrested in June after Homeland Security investigators found he uploaded child pornography online.
Kennell then admitted to producing child pornography with young girls from the Brazilian tribes he worked with.
About 17 people filed up several rows in the courtroom to support Kennel Tuesday.
WFTV found out his family has been doing missionary work his entire life.
Investigators said Kennell was a missionary for New Tribes Mission, based in Sanford.
In court, it was brought up that Kennell was born in the Brazilian jungle. His attorney and family suggested that the way he was raised and the culture he was in may have contributed to his actions.
WFTV was there as he was sentenced to 58 years in federal prison for molesting at least four girls, one as young as 12.
Reporter Karla Ray asked Kennell's father if he had anything to say.
But he declined comment.
Kennell's father asked the chief judge in court to have leniency on his son, but Kennell was sentenced to just two years less than the maximum allowed.
Ray: "I've never seen so much family show up for a court hearing. Why did you all feel it was so important to come here today?"
Father: "He's our family. We love him. We're going to support him."
Ray: "And, you'll support him throughout his 58 years?"
Father: "Absolutely."
Kennell cried as he spoke on his behalf to the judge, apologizing to his victims.
His family insists the now convicted child predator is a changed man and is remorseful.
Ray: "You forgive him for what he did?"
Father: "Of course we do. God forgives him and we forgive him."
Those victims were not able to speak out in court Tuesday because they are all in Brazil.
As part of a plea deal, Kennell waived his right to an appeal.
His New Tribes Mission biography described Kennell as a language teacher who grew up in Brazil, and is the son of missionaries. He went back to Brazil in 1994 as a missionary, according to his biography.

A former missionary for the Sanford-based New Tribes Mission was sentenced to 58 years in federal prison Tuesday for sexually abusing girls who were part of an indigenous tribe in the Amazon and filming the acts.

Authorities said Warren Scott Kennell befriended and abused girls over a several-year period, while he was establishing a church with the Katookeena tribe.

Homeland Security Investigations agents began investigating Kennell, 45, after receiving a tip that he posted pictures on a website used by people who trade child pornography.

When Kennell traveled from Brazil to Orlando in May, agents stopped and searched him at the airport.

Agents found several thumb drives and an external hard drive, and investigators located child pornography on the devices.

Kennell admitted he was the man abusing a young girl in one of the images and said he was responsible for photographing the second girl.

Investigators eventually found more than 940 images of child pornography on Kennell's hard drive.

Kennell was arrested in May, and subsequently pleaded guilty to two counts of production of child pornography.

During his sentencing hearing Tuesday, Kennell apologized to the victims and his family.

"I've hurt a lot of people," he said.

Kennell's father, Joe Kennell, asked the court for leniency and explained many of the good acts his son has done throughout his life, including in his youth.

Joe Kennell, who was also a missionary, told the court that while he and his wife raised their children in Brazil, Warren Kennell often provided medical care to the people they ministered to.

But Assistant U.S. Attorney Tanya Davis Wilson said Kennell used his position as a missionary and "abused it in the most horrendous way."

(I don't know why this article says Scott's father's name is Joe. His parents are Jerry and Gloria Kennell, current members of NTM. I am sure they are absolutely heartbroken, and as a parent myself, I feel a deep sadness for them.)

58 years! That would be unheard of down here. 5 years tops and out in 2 for good behaviour. Oh sure we know how to catch them, we are just hopeless at sentencing.

The victims of this have probably been given life sentences of sorts, my compassion lies with them. There has still been no word from NTM as to what if anything they have done for the victims of this monster and I doubt there ever will be. Therein lies another crime that needs to be punished.

I salute those who bravely spoke out and stopped this monster from causing any more damage.
