Thank you, New Tribes Mission, for informing your members that Scott Kennell from the field of Brazil has pleaded guilty to charges of producing child pornography. It is good that you named him this time.

The only way for other possible (probable) victims of this man to know that he has been caught and punished, and to know they are not the only one he harmed, is if this information is given out freely. Scott does not deserve anyone's protection. He is guilty. He has admitted that himself.

My concern continues to be for victims. Victims of this missionary, and victims of other child abusers.

Can anyone tell me how NTM intend to follow up on Scott Kenells victims and their families who have directly affected by NTM's
"ministry"?

NTM have a duty to visit each village and area identified offering genuine repentance on his behalf. I'm not saying the victims should be sought out.... this needs to be done with genuine love and sensitivety that is why I suggest villages/areas are visited first. Maybe NTM are not the right people to do this and perhaps they need someone to act on their behalf.....? Grace....I fear the culture of NTM does not have the transparency to do this with genuine love and care.

In doing this then people/families may chose to come forward/acknowledge events privately. NTM CAN'T DENY THIS HAPPENED so these people need to be provided with some sort of compensation by NTM.

Heaven forbid I should mention Compensation. NTM telling the victims to forgive wouldn't wash with the indigenous peoples in South America, Africa or places like PNG......so get the cheque book out NTM. You need to clean up Scott Kenells mess and maybe you will learn something from the process. ie. How serious this type of abuse is and how the real world feel about it.

In fact I'm pretty sure nationals in PNG would more than likely bring a machete to this type of meeting.

I'd like to be wrong, but I doubt NTM hasn't even given his victims a second thought, anyway who would there be to go and find out what damage has been done. It is now pretty obvious that NTM has more "missionaries" in home countries than on the field. By time one adds in all those who are in Canada, the U.K., N.Z. there ain't many missionaries on the field, the only exception is Austalia which has no "missionaries" on home staff (now how did that happen?) And look at those title they have, wow, I think I'll have to come up with a title myself.

How do we find out what is happening? We know NTM people read FE but they are most unlikely (on current form) to respond. I wonder if anyone with links into the hallowed halls can find out?

It's hard not to feel small and pretty damn useless in this battle for justice. I wish I won the lottery or something and had the monetary power to actually make something happen for victims. My prayers appear to be rather less than useful (putting it mildly).

Sadly I do not think ntm will concern themselves with the victims in Brasil. For all we know, those precious children that Scott molested may not even know the creep is in prison.

If I remember correctly his folks work in the village where he was so I seriously doubt they are going to appear vulnerable and say he is arrested. Who knows though? His folks may be retired, in transition , in active service, etc etc stateside now. You know along with the majority of ntmers at the moment.

I do not believe ntm is concerned with the welfare of the innocent victims. They have never proven otherwise.

Once again I feel the concern is the dollar bill and because of that they hide truth.

A good corporate citizen in the predicament that NTM finds itself, would be notifying the Brazilian Embassy in the U.S., apologizing profusely for what has happened with one of their members and offering to make amends.

I have no idea if this has happened, but somehow I doubt it.
