Different country. Different religion.

The local council leader, Roger Stone, resigned immediately. Prime Minister David Cameron's Downing Street office said that the lessons of past failures must be learned and those who exploited the children brought to justice.

"This damning report shows the full extent of how the children of Rotherham were let down," said Keith Vaz, the chair of the Home Affairs Select Committee. "They will never get their childhoods back."

Found this comment about NTM Australia (before it changed it's name), it's a posters reflection on their time there.

Quote:
Ive alot of fond memories of NTM. My only regret is that we left in the dead of the night and I didnt get to say my byes to anyone ;)

Wonder how many other people left in the dead of night?

Up until the 70s, language school was in New Zealand, with boot camp and bible school being in Australia. Not many people made it across the sea to language school, most disappeared or were "called" elsewhere. Which got me to thinking about the people who did make it to language school, some of the men were rather strange, but then when you look at who was doing the recruiting and where they ended up, was there the possibility that they were attracting men with similar tendencies?
Is it any wonder that Kiwi NTM families have disintegrated at such a phenomenal rate? No, not really. Some of these men created their own crazy isolated worlds and seemed unable to comprehend how far they had deviated from any reasonable sense of normality.
And still they live in their worlds of denial that anything was wrong and they will fight to defend the past and the "good" that was done at any cost.

Wonder what life would have been like if we had bravely disappeared in the dark of the night?

Well, for one thing, you probably wouldn't be here on Fanda Eagles.

:(

That would be a big loss to us all.

And the "Poems in Purple" thread might have run out of steam after about 17 posts, instead of 1749 posts and still going ....

:)

The book of Psalms only has 150 chapters, how did we get to 1749 posts? ;)

Given the choice of rewriting history, think would have preferred that we had done all done a midnight EXODUS, instead of writing copious PSALMS and LAMENTATIONS and dealing with the PROVERBial you know what and the never ending REVELATIONS. :(

Yes, that would have been so nice!
I would rather write about much more pleasant topics, to tell you the truth.
And we do tell the truth here on FE.

Happy to oblige. This morning we are seeing more REVELATIONS about ACTS.

Going back to the original post on this thread and the revelations of "companies" set up by NTM. Strange financial dealings are nothing new in NTM, my father was in charge of finances in PNG and was put under considerable pressure from a few to give them money for themselves under the guise of "mission business". To his credit he stood his ground, but he paid a high price for his honesty.
In any large organisation there will always be those who are attracted by the large sums of money that flow through and will find the temptation to help themselves creatively to their liking.

Like paedophiles head for areas where there are children, those who are less than financially honest will head for where the cash flows.
