"So NTM, on this incredibly sad day, when the world mourns a very talented man who took his own life because of the demons he could not shake, do you ever stop to think of the MKs who have taken their own lives or those of us who have attempted to do so??????
Or is it just business as usual, nothing must rock the boat, until one day you are burying on of your own because the past caught up with them. And on that day, will you wonder why God abandoned you and those who you thought were your brothers and sisters in Christ, say strange things like "it will make you stronger because all things work together . . ."

Rest In Peace Robin Williams, the world mourns the tragic end and as we contemplate our own frailties it is not business as usual."

Well said, Aussie. Your words ring true.

Here's a mid-week "Amen" from me. A rather melancholy Amen .... I too have been feeling very sad ever since I heard the news about Robin Williams.

It must be a confusing world to be a tortured genius, where you live in a world that adores you for your ability to make it laugh and yet there is absence of laughter deep down. A world where the red carpet is rolled out in front of you wherever you go and yet when the door to the outside closes, the carpet is the very thing you want to crawl under and hide, trying to get away from the feelings of self worthlessness and making sense of a world that is laughing with you, but somehow you can't see the funny side of it.

Laughter is the best medicine
Take two and call the nurse again
Share the medicine around
In word spoken or comic pen

But most important
Thy own patient learn to be
Paint the world in purple spots
When all is lost at sea

Reach out before the medicine
Hits the expiry date
There is always a helping hand
To lift from depressive state

And to all those who never made it
To whom the medicine came to late
Rest in Peace and may you find the laughter
Beyond your eternal gates

Thanks, Bemused!
It's a tough, tough thing to face.

True. Haven't been to a lot of funerals, but of those I have been to, several have been suicide victims of about my own vintage.
I've never been so low as to contemplate terminating life as a solution. It must be a dark and scary place to be that low.
And for those of us who try to comfort the bereaved, what words of solace and comfort are there to ease the pain, the hurt and the guilt?

History shows that children who were abuse have a higher chance of not being able to find peace within. Life long depression controls many. The have no hope for themselves. So glad for social media that can show MKs that they are not alone. Fanda Eagles is doing a great job.

This story is on our wires this morning:

http://www.stuff.co.nz/world/americas/1 ... st-planned

And I look at the placards and shake my head. Now I feel sorry for the vast majority of good religious folk who will get lumped in with these lunatics by a public who thinks that all God fearing people are the same.

Then I read another story on our wires:

http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/1039181 ... ge-of-hope

And my faith in the kindness of mankind is restored :D

Thank goodness the news is not all bad.

So I cling to hope, and keep going.

The news is excellent down here.

A certain someone is advancing chronologically one year today and will be enjoying a day when he doesn't have to cook, clean or tidy the house. He will be putting his feet up for the day and being spoilt semi rotten. However just in case he gets a taste for such a lifestyle. He will have a double dose of cleaning and dishes to do tomorrow and the status quo will return for another 364 days

A learned and much respected friend has kindly pointed out that because the above person is a member of two communities on both sides of the International Dateline, his birthday can be justifiably celebrated for 2 days.

:D
