Burp! I mean LIKE! Aussie, I agree with you about being HELPED up when you are ready. And not before. It won't work. But "helped" and not dragged or kicked up. We are in a new level of discouragement as parents who want to help. It's not the time and we may never be the ones to do the helping..... Even tho we admit the wrong we did and love our kids deeply. We are watching something almost dangerous happening and our hearts are breaking. It could go a good way if that "wanting help" thing kicks in. OH............. |

A parent's deep, ongoing grief. Realizing you blundered into terrible, terrible choices that allowed unfathomable harm to come to your child. Now suffering the consequences of those choices, watching your adult child act out their pain, and being unable to "fix" things. We cannot go back into the past and fix things there. We also cannot fix things in the present or the future, when our children are already adults and making their own choices. This grief is unending, it seems. It is not within our power to force our children to want help, or to change. And so we sit. We cry. We pray. We stand ready to respond. Hope deferred, our hearts are sick. The changes we pray for may never come. We ourselves must keep moving ahead. Our joy cannot be contingent on whether or not our child gets "fixed". Mosquito Bite, you are not alone in your Mother Grief. I hope that helps just a little. |
