Sonnen só fica na falação e Anderson vence novamente
Anderson Silva prometeu e quase conseguiu arrancar os dentes do americano falastrão Chael Sonnen no combate principal do UFC 148, realizado em Las Vegas, na madrugada deste domingo (08/07).

Sonnen surpreendeu o campeão no primeiro round, conseguindo uma queda, mas golpeando sem muito efeito. No segundo round, Anderson voltou mais ligado, evitou as quedas, derrubou com uma linda esquiva, acertou uma joelhada violenta no adversário e aplicou o castigo tão merecido em Sonnen até o juiz interromper e decretar o fim do combate.
No final ficou claro o que Anderson sempre falou: Sonnen não tem qualidades técnicas para disputar o cinturão. O americano provou que só sabe mesmo ficar na falação.
Como um grande campeão, Anderson honrou seu País e sua família. E, seguindo a humildade dos grandes guerreiros, perdoou Sonnen, pediu aplausos e, olho no olho, falou: “Sonnen, se quiser fazer um churrasco lá em casa eu te convido”.

Time to go church, tribers.

Since I'm on a business trip, I only have to read a few verses from the Gideon New Testament. And there's no offering. Plus, I can listen to hymns on youtube, versus the church version of K-Love (15 praise songs).

Actually, I'm thankful for the new-fangled Christian music. My wife keeps K-Love on in the van all the time, and my "little guys" are learning and memorizing truth that way, in addition to Awana, etc. (started by triber Lance Latham).

But, when I'm driving, (well, not in the van, because that's still my wife's domain), by myself in my 1998 Crown Victoria with 318,000 miles, I will drift doctrinally into country music, gospel music, soft rock, and my one CD (Tim Maia.....he almost went to Peniel).

driving this last week between São Paulo, Campinas and environs, I'm amazed how much Christian music is on the radio. It is amazing to be driving down Rodovia dos Bandeirantes (voted the best highway in Brazil) listening to "How Great Thou Art" in English.

Some would be quick to point out that some of the Christian networks are run by folks like Edir Macedo. As best I can figure out, his doctrine goes something like this: bring your money to the church and God will bless you financially.

But, one way or the other, God's Word is being broadcast in Brazil.

And I can't help but think of the impact New Tribes Mission/Missão Novas Tribos do Brasil has had in this process of God's Word taking hold here in this country of almost 200,000,000 human beings.

Ever since the mid 1950's, in a little town called Jacutinga, in a little place called Peniel, with beautiful eucalyptus trees, year after year, people have been taught God's Word. Some of those people continued on in their training and joined New Tribes. Others were trained and returned to their churches/cities, such as São Paulo, Campinas, Vitória da Conquista, and many other cities all over this huge country which is larger than the continental United States. Only God knows the true impact the teaching of His Word has had. New Tribes doesn't count baptisms like the Southern Baptists, but I know God has reached many people through their ministry.

My parents (and grandfather, and two uncles, and three aunts, and various other tribers) went to a school in Greenville, SC. That particular school, which doesn't rhyme with Jones Bob, had strong convictions about not associating with a character from just up the creek in North Carolina. But my fourth grade and fifth grade teacher, one of the best teachers I ever had, Gill Baxter, came to know the Lord through the ministry of that character, whose name rhymes with Billy Graham.

I praise God for the ministry of Bob Jones. I praise God for the ministry of Billy Graham. God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. God is more than able and willing to use all sorts of folks to get His work done.

E só assim, é possível chegar àquele momento do dia em que a gente diz: "Graças à Deus deu tudo certo"

Mexico confirms deportation of nearly 43 000 illegal immigrants

The Mexican immigration authorities deported him to Guatemala a total of 42,919 illegal Central American immigrants in 2012, said on Sunday an official source.
