Subject: Re: WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO "WALK WITH THE LORD"?
To:
pastorfbcs@gmail.comWho am I? I am a sinner saved by grace, a co-heir with Christ. I am
the chief of sinners.
I arrived in Brazil as a missionary kid on January 7, 1970. I left
Brasil on May 1, 1987, after graduating from the New Tribes Mission
boarding school in Vianopolis, Goias, Brasil. I studied at New Tribes'
Bible school in Jackson, MI, for 2 years. I obtained degrees in
broadcasting and law from the University of Tennessee. I met my wife
soon after she was born and married her 26 years later. We have four
kids.
What does walk with the Lord look like to me? It's what Adam and Eve
had in the garden prior to the start of chapter 3. They had fellowship
with Him. It looks like what Abraham experienced, living by faith,
obeying God's directive to kill his dear son Isaac, realizing God
could bring him back to life, even though Christ's resurrection would
only happen thousands of years later, and even though he didn't have
the benefit of a copy of I Cor. 15. It looks like Joseph's
life....cast into a pit, betrayed by his own brothers, sold into
slavery, mistreated, imprisoned....but always walking with His God,
confident in His direction and provision. It looks like David's life,
full of praise to God, full of anguish, full of family heartache, full
of repentance. And his walk with God included detours into adultery
and murder, but he learned and he suffered and he kept walking with
God, preparing for the construction of God's house. That's what
walking with the Lord looks like to me.
MKs are much like the rest of the 7 billion people on this planet.
We've had unique experiences. We didn't always have electricity. We
lived in far-off places. Most of us like ice cream. We have a lot of
interesting perspectives. We might not do very well at Trivial
Pursuit.
Don't make us out to be too unique. But as a pastor in Sanford, FL,
please confront New Tribes Mission leadership about the sexual abuse
of children at its boarding schools around the world.
