Survivor, please pass on to your cousin that she too is showing much courage and humility in embracing the truth and that we and strongly encourage and applaud that; and are praying for her healing too...

From Surivor: "Anything that happened to you was significant. It could have only been one event or something that was said to you and yet it's impact can be so damaging to you. Especially as children, things hit us at our core.
One of the books I have read is "Door of Hope" by Jan Frank. She was abused by her dad. In the beginning of the book I was imagining that the abuse from her dad must have been very intense and lasted all her childhood. But then she told about her abuse in detail and if I remember right, there were only two things that happened to her and they didn't seem very bad on the spectrum of what one may think "bad" abuse would be. I am so glad that Jan Frank shared the details though because I learned through that that even something that doesn't seem "that bad" can have a huge effect on your life. She didn't realize until she was in her 20s how much it had affected her. It took a long time for her to find healing."

It took me forever to realize I had been sexually abused and that it really was valid to be devastated by it because it wasn't "that bad." I wasn't raped; the first abuser only did it once; the second was so kind and fatherly (though he was NOT my father). Thank you for sharing this.

M.A.R.S.- Admitting the truth even to ourselves is painful yet absolutely necessary if we are ever going to find healing. I'm sorry for your pain but so glad that you can speak the truth and are on your way to healing.

How I praise the Lord to see the glimpses and glimmer of hope in your entries here! To all of you survivors -- you re affirmed in your brokenness, and so loved by the precious Savior. Continue to allow HIM to heal your wounded hearts to be not only survivors, but victorious overcomers who can help to heal the wounds of those around you. Your lives are precious testimonies of His healing grace. My love and prayers to each of you.

Thank you for posting your cousin's letter. The grace you continue to extend is exemplary. Your cousin is in the same place we all find ourselves at some time in life--"shoulda, coulda, woulda." But, I'm sure the pain of being lied to by people close to her only makes it harder for her. Hopefully, at some time you will hear an apology from the people who really need to apologize...but, thankfully, now...the truth is being heard!

Cynthia: the courage you are displaying is amazing! I cannot fathom the situation you are in, but the grace and willingness to search for truth even in the midst of incredible pain and a stripping away of all that you once thought you knew, is nothing short of . . .I cannot even begin to express my admiration for you!

Survivor: As momof4 states, your grace and humility truly are reflective of your Heavenly Daddy. You are living the life! I continue to pray for you and your healing . . . .

I recently received a letter in my gmail box from Missao Novos Tribos do Brasil. I read it with some skepticism, but it appears to be heartfelt and genuine. Has anyone else who attended Via during the years of 1981-1994 received such a letter??? Thoughts??

Cynthia, Survivor, Wise 2 Late - I hate all the heartache your family has suffered these past years. And I am envious of the transparency and willingness amongst you all to admit that there are even issues. I'm pretty sure that the skeletons in my family's closet will never see the light of day. Unless MNTB drags them out. An email from them today made my blood run cold & I wonder what the future holds for all of us. . .

I hope there is complete healing & reconciliation for you all someday. Abracos.

@XYZ- I read your post several times. I think it's loaded with many things you didn't say. How I wish I could talk to you face to face and listen to you share your story. Family secrets can be so harmful and if never talked about and healed from, can be passed down from generation to generation. I hope you and your family will find healing as well. Often the healing will start with one person who is willing to step out and stand for truth. It's far from an easy ride to be that person but it's worth it to be set free.
