Turn Off The Scoreboard

I personally like to keep score.
My teenage boys have adopted a new way to keep score when we play 21.
If they score 21 points, they win. If I am able to score one basket before they get to 21, I win. Even two or three years ago, I could beat them without creative scoring methods. By the time the grandkids get here, I'll just wave from the porch.

I think once or twice in 19 years of marriage I have used the scoreboard system to keep track of perceived wrongs/injuries/she said this/she didn't do that. Actually, maybe more than once or twice.

Oh the perils of living on the Pacific rim, the earth moves occassionally.

Just coming up to 5 years since the big disaster and most Kiwis thought the worst was over.

Mrs Bemused and I are fine, moved away from Christchurch 3 years ago. Canine Bemused gets upset when the earth moves (aftershocks go on for months to years after a big one).

One of my best friends while growing up in Brazil just found out that she has Stage 4 cancer in her colon, and the cancer has apparently spread to her liver. She has five beautiful children and a wonderful husband. Even though I am 15 days older than she is, she was always a year ahead of me in school. Now she is threatening to beat me to heaven. The doctors have said that since she is not in pain, they see no point in operating. A port for chemo will be installed tomorrow. The One who lingered when news came that Lazarus was sick...He is in charge of her medical care. God has perfect timing. His solutions are best....always. If my cousin will soon be with her sister, or if God would give her another 47 years on this planet, God is at work in a powerful way...in all of our lives, drawing all people to Himself, so that His Son Jesus might be glorified.

Oh, that is very, very sad news. I will be keeping her and her family and all who love her in my prayers.

So thankful for the Hope we have.
