It posted just fine, kedougou! Humbled and grateful for your reply . . .the emotions feel so raw. When I was 7, we spent a day at Jersey Shore. It was grey and overcast, and we didn't use sunscreen, or cover up. My entire back got sun poisoning, with big blisters. There were benefits to this: people were extraordinarily nice to me when they saw my back. I enjoyed hearing people talk about me. I dint have to wear a shirt for a whole week. After that they took me to a store to buy a halter top. I always wanted a halter top. I started to get more active and less careful. My brother and I were tossing a ball, sitting in a big hallway. He threw the ball, and I scootched back and made direct contact--back to wall. I screamed, and then felt the coolness--a big blister popped open and ran down my back, and down the wall. So this is like that second round-raw, but draining. My back healed. My mom probably still feels guilty. Someone asked me yesterday, "Where is the closest, best beach?" I said "Definitely not New Jersey, we like Maryland." "Hmm, I'm not sure really why that is . . ." Today I remembered. Youch! Thank you for reliving pain on our behalf, kedougou. |

Just want to encourage all those Eagles still struggling. Yes the struggle will go on forever but you have and are learning how you can handle it. Being from Mamou and older I know I have gotten much help from fellow students. Also to encourage you some who were not supportive in the beginning because they had not suffered abuse, that left gashes in their live, have been able to see the suffering of those who were hurt and shown love and care. kedougou is correct that supporting people are very important, especially those who were with you when the abuse happened. Bonnie is also so correct that we have to establish boundaries. Our boundaries have to be ours not what someone else thinks they should be. They will often be different from other's. Just to tell you all have been so helpful to many. Thank you again Bonnie for your courage. |
