Oh my. that's horrible. Truly horrible.

More worrying for me was that of the hundreds of people listed as using the site that quote came from, there was no comment.

"Uncle X" is still with NTM, according to their website. Was he "a great man of God"? Well he sure sounded like one. But my experience of pious sounding men is they use it for a smokescreen for their dark side and knowing Uncle X very well, he was a cheat, a liar and a rascist.

Is he retired at least?
Altho that isn't necessarily a deterrent.
People are not discerning.
Or are kept from speaking up---as we know.

Well worth a read. Note how this offender has been treated very leniently by his "superiors", his wife has been treated as some sort offender. Also note how much access to children this offender has.

And we've seen it all before.

And yes, we most certainly have seen it all, and continue to see it all ... before, and presently.

Why are men telling this woman that they have control over her decision making? The correspondence makes disturbing reading. It's arrogant chauvanistic nonsense wrapped up in the usual scriptural strange interpretations.

My personal opinion is that divorce was probably the only option left to her. She should have been supported, not denegrated.

This is the year 2016, women are not chattels of men.

As a mere male, mind if I ask why women put up with this? Why don't fundamentalist women walk out in droves? Has this thinking got such power over them that they can't, or does the grass not seem greener on the other side of the liberated fence?

You spent all those years in a fundamentalist culture, and you ask these questions? Aren't the answers clear?
