Thanks for reposting these real thought provokers, Raz.

I admire brave posters who really make us think by asking hard questions. No need to apologise for raw language and sentiment, this is the forum that goes from levity to leeches in seconds (and is probably while it is still going so well, when other sites have faded into obscurity).
Hard questions may cause controversy and possibly even emotions to boil over. But it also might cause a re-examination of what is really believed in and what can be done better or overhauled. Shock horror, it might even cause a bit of thinking to go on and in today world of just ticking the like box on facebook between the ads on a reality show . . .

The latest NTM@Work magazine (formerly called Brown Gold magazine) has an interesting graphic. I tried to find it on NTM's website so I could post a link, but it doesn't look like they included it there.

Total NTM USA membership: 2,962 (There is no breakdown to show how many of this number are older, retired folks like my parents ... I know there are numerous members in this category. Or how many are in the USA for various reasons, or never even went out to the foreign field. Or how many are in support ministries on the field. Or how many of these almost 3,000 people are actually living in remote tribal or unreached people areas.)

I would certainly like to see a breakdown of this number. I think it would be very enlightening.

Included on this graphic is this information: "NTM is partnering with 4,294 churches in the USA and 26,926 individual donors."

How many of those churches and individual donors know that scores of adult MKs are still waiting for results from "investigations" begun years ago into abuses they suffered as children overseas? How many of them know that some of the money they donate goes to pay attorneys like Theresa Sidebotham, tasked with the job of protecting the organization, rather than reaching the missionaries they pray for and support?

How many churches and individuals know that missionaries they once supported were child molesters and/or abusers? We know for sure that the churches that supported Frank Parker were not informed, because NTM claimed they didn't know who his sending church was. So they didn't inform anyone.

How many churches and individuals who supported Scott Kennell were informed by the mission of what he was arrested with and imprisoned for, so that they could make sure he had never harmed any of their own children?

How many churches and individuals who may have supported (or even continue to support) the five current members of the mission who have been named on this site as being abusers of children know that the missionaries they trusted harmed MKs, and yet continue to keep their status with the mission to this day?

4,294 churches and 26,926 individual supporters.

That is a LOT of people, still in the dark.

And they will remain in the dark when there are former Tribers who dispose of any material they find relating to the abuse as has happened recently.
Lying has become "the norm" with some, it is done without guilt and with a shift in blame when they are caught.

NTM is being backed by a group of ageing former Tribers who do not want their guilty secrets out and they will stop at nothing to do so. In a few more years they will be gone to whatever eternity awaits them, in the meantime the lies will no doubt continue and some will be sucked in by the thin layer of piousness that covers them.
