Oh, that thinking makes a lot of sense, Deja do! Thank you for clarifying it that way, because I think you are on to something!

Just a few days ago someone wrote this to me: "God sees all this, and there will be a reckoning... and oh how much better His justice and vengeance will be than my own puny attempts."

I agree that when many Christians pray ... and there is silence ... they conclude that God is saying "no", and they must have been asking for the wrong thing.

I am praying too. And God has not lifted this burden (calling) from my shoulders. I haven't heard Him say "no, stop" yet. So ... after 5 1/2 years, I am still here.

But your post has helped me understand why so many have turned away ... yes, it is very possible they think God has said "no, I'm not going to fix this now." So they stop hoping for helpful results in the here-and-now, and anticipate eventual justice in the Great Reckoning.

For me, the flaw in that thinking is that what I was taught in NTM was that our defense before God in the afterlife will not be how pure and sinless our own deeds on earth were, but the fact that we have put our trust in the purity and sinlessness of our Savior.

So by that reasoning, I question the assurance that some have that there will be a reckoning, or justice or vengeance issued by God some day on believers for their sins.

In my opinion, He is asking us to pursue those who committed crimes on this earth, hold them accountable to the legal and moral standards in place, protect those who are vulnerable and innocent, and expose those who shield evildoers for their own selfish purposes.

And those are my thoughts ...

I think Jesus gave us the answer on this one.

We are living in two different worlds. In the physical world we are to render unto Caesar what is Caesar's. i.e. if someone transgresses the law of the land by abusing a child they should be given over to the law and the law left to deal with them severely.
If someone has a lack of faith or other spiritual problem, then this should be rendered unto God and God will sort it out, because only God really can see what is in a person's heart. If we interfere with this, then we are treading on God's toes.

Where NTM and so many other Christians have got it wrong is they are not rendering unto Caesar what is Caesar's and are trying to play God with matters that are between God and someone else.

Thank you Raz for helping me think through this aloud, this is a very good discussion. Two heads are better than one :D

That is a VERY good discussion and it does help!
Thank you to both of you.
I was afraid it was going to end in---Let's just quit.
(But I knew better!)
In my family, they called me Bulldog because I never gave up.
They gave me the hard stuff to do because they knew it would get done.
I'm still doing it when necessary.
And I'm still here with whatever I can offer.
Not what others can do---just little old mosquito me.
Buzz and bite and don't let it go!

I'm working on "Winter Willows" right now.
Well, I have nothing down--only some thoughts.
But tho the summer room is gone
IT WILL COME BACK
EVERY YEAR
THAT is reason to hope.
I'm not giving up!
