I am screaming mad that today with all the evidence of the harm child abuse does to children that NTM and many other missions brush off "spankings" as the normal discipline of the day. Those beatings were not spankings they were beatings at Mamou that drew blood. Done with the buckle end of a large belt. Add to that sexual abuse, emotional degrading us into evil children. Spiritual abuse that taught us of a mean and terrible God who was out to get us. No wonder many MKs want nothing to do with God. The evidence of this evil to MKs just keeps coming up. In 20 years we will began to hear about the abuse that is happening today. These missions still believe in discipline that is abusive and encourage missionaries to use this kind of discipline even today. It is also encouraged in may fundamental and evangelical churches. But we can't give up we need to keep exposing this evil. I am thankful for each person who tells their story, they are helping those who still have not been able to tell their own story.
On the missions and a financial settlement. I don't think they realize what it has cost each one who was abused to just face life. Many miss a lot of work and sometimes can't even hold a job. Many have many physical problems and diseases that bring with them high medical cost. There are the emotional struggles that need professional help that cost money. There are a large amount who can not keep relationships. The most I have seen is missions paying for some counselors but usually for a very limited time, then everything is suppose to be fine. How can a mission put a financial limit on the value of person abused as a child when they were responsible for the abuse?
