My dear Mosqueito,

The definition of a Heferlump is that it is a mysterious creature that has never been seen and much less caught. Pooh being a simple creature that he is, has his immagination limited to the genus Pachydermus, but more advanced creatures such as ourselves know that a Heferlump is in fact a very talented, intelligent being, seldom seen in person but who's presence is felt by many.
Of course the last word on this intersting debate is probably best left to the subject of speculation herself ;)

Cinderella sitting
In her Mission Barrel gear
Waiting for Prince Charming
To take away her fear

Cinderella praying
For a true and goodly knight
To wave a wand of providence
And tell her all will be right

Cinderella hoping
Prince Charming is sent by God
Hoping he isn't like the men she knew
Stange and rather odd

Cinderella reflecting
How life a field away
Was full of ugly men
And strange mind games play

Cinderella alone
Praying rags to riches will be her lot
While her parents are far off
Telling natives they're not forgot

Cinderella wondering
If fairytales do come true
If Prince Charming will
Her Mission Barrel clothes swap for new

Cinderella never realising
Beauty comes from deep within
And there is no perfect Prince Charming
With lovely polished grin

Updates on what, Kyle? On an IHART investigation of PNG? Or on current stories of abuse in PNG?

(I think the answer to both would be ... no updates. :( )

I purchased a copy of "The History of NTM" about a year ago (got it for $1 on line :o ). The bit that fascinated me was when the founders of NTM were setting the organisation up, they had in their group an individual who didn't agree with the way matters were going, so left. Then he was killed in an agricultural accident and the writer of the book quite clearly stated that it was God's way of removing an obstacle. No compassion, just another obstacle removed.
And that thinking was pervading NTM logic when I was a kid. We were scared to speak out because "God would take us out" and there were graphic examples to prove the theory, the one I remember the most was when the Principals brother was electrocuted in a domestic accident and it was held up as how God would remove anyone who "didn't walk with Him".
Anyway why I'm rambling on about all this is that my suspicion is that this still plays on the minds of MKs who grew up with this vindictive theory. It keeps the fear alive, even decades latter and so silence is maintained. Any rational person would of course dismiss this as being "cultish manipulation", but if this is what you were brought up in, it is not easy to get it out of your head.

As for CURRENT stories of abuse in NTM PNG. I did have a brief correspondence with a recent MK, I was assured that the abuse had stopped and guidelines were in place so that it wouldn't happen again. However I heard this reassurance before Scott Kennel was arrested, so my faith is yet again not that strong.

Hope this sort of answers the question.

Yes it was the cult of fear and it takes a brave individual to break free from it. I doubt anything has changed at Numonohi, the beatings have probably stopped, but little innocent minds will still be being warped, they just don't know it yet, until they get out into the real world and find that they can't cope and the easiest option is to go straight back to the only thing they really know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
