I hear you Bemused. Who is funding all this? Thailand is beautiful. No matter how they justify the funding of this, you and I know it is coming out of supporter's pockets.

Supporters who are donating funds in hopes to help with agriculture projects, famine relief, literacy, evangelism, not necessarily for people to stay in a nice hotel with a pool and good food.

The term "spend-down" comes to mind. Just throwing it out there.

Perhaps it is a last ditch attempt to keep the Titanic afloat, as gold bullion is heavy, why not get rid of it to lighten the load.

Or perhaps the order is to have one last spend up, after all wouldn't want any compensation paid out would we?

In the spirit of truth and transparency, the section in NTM's website under "Child Protection" called "Historical Reviews" has now been changed. It no longer shows any actual information about what MK schools are being investigated, or what stage any investigations are in. No updates from Pat Hendrix or anyone else.

HISTORICAL REVIEWS

Jesus had many things to say about His love and care of children and NTM USA desires to give that same place of honor to the children of our members and in the ministries we undertake. Sadly, there were times in our history when individuals took advantage of situations and the vulnerability of children to commit acts of abuse. During earlier years there was inconsistency in our membership and leadership in knowing how to recognize signs of abuse and respond correctly to it.

This has changed and since the 1990s NTM USA has placed an increasing focus on child protection. We will continue to address this area in a comprehensive manner through investigating any allegations of abuse, whether historical or current, and dealing appropriately with the findings.

Believing that we are responsible to our members and their children, to our ministry partners, to the laws of the countries in which we minister and ultimately to God, NTM USA has put a great deal of effort and research into protecting children and will continue to do so.

May I suggest this page now needs a new title?

Maybe something like, "Don't Get Hysterical. There is Nothing to Review. Please Move Along."

This is what I get when I type in "Abuse" into the NTM website.

Found

It appears we were not able to locate the content you were looking for. It's possible you found a link to a web page that doesn't actually exist. This could happen if the page was deleted but you found a stray reference to it somewhere.

There is a link on the right hand side that if I am an MK or a parent of an MK I can get email updates, but all references to historic abuse seem to have been wiped.
My guess is that NTM has been instructed by legal opinion to wipe any reference that admits any form of liability and instead to put up a vague statement that enlightens anyone who is researching or reading that they are in fact right up to speed with the current trends, which of course are to stand against child abuse.
Take heart my dear Raz, it's a sign of desperation, denial and more dishonesty. And it's a sign that you and I and anyone else who truly wants Justice, Healing and to make sure this never happens again, are on the side of Truth and Transparency.

This was posted yesterday by Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment (G.R.A.C.E.) :
transparent church = vulnerable church = redeemable church = transformable church = safer church. Does this describe your church??

I stand firm in my belief that lack of transparency means lack of justice and lack of accountability. I have no respect or regard for an agency that covers and evades.

sorry i am reposting because the highlight color I chose made it nearly impossible to read the fantastic statement from GRACE.

Here's an interesting exercise in pursuit of truth and transparency.

Go to the NTm website.

http://usa.ntm.org/

Click on Child Protection.

http://usa.ntm.org/child-protection

Type "Historical Abuse" in the search field.

That will take you to this page:

http://usa.ntm.org/content/search?q=historical+abuse

There are 18 posts here. Information that in the past was available to be viewed on the website. Information about child abuse, investigations and plans.

Try clicking on one of those now. This is what you will see:

PAGE NOT FOUND

It appears we were not able to locate the content you were looking for. It's possible you found a link to a web page that doesn't actually exist. This could happen if the page was deleted but you found a stray reference to it somewhere.

"It's possible you found a link to a web page that doesn't actually exist."

A web page that doesn't actually exist?

Information that doesn't actually exist?

How is this supposed to make MK abuse survivors feel? It's a short jump for people who already feel unprotected, betrayed and abandoned by NTM to "your abuse didn't really happen". Or at least "it doesn't really matter, and we don't really care".

Current NTM members have been told over and over that the abuses of the past are being handled in a Godly way.

NTMers: Please pull your head out of the sand and try to imagine, if your own child had been molested by a missionary co-worker, how do you think your child would feel if she was told, "This announcement, report or update doesn't actually exist."

Please, please think about this!

Of course for half of the tribers in the world this is not an issue, because they are not on the field, nope they are back in their home countries with nice little jobs and fancy titles. If anyone molests their kids they can call the cops or have it dealt with under the new guidelines e.t.c.
So that only leaves the other half who are actually on the field and out of sight out of mind.
Anyone who thinks that there will never be another paedophile, molester, rapist is deluded. As Boz has so wisely said, missions are magnets for these types, they'll just be a whole lot sneakier and with modern technology such as the internet and all it's child porn. We were told this would never happen again and then Scott Kennell was arrested, join the dots folks and wakey wakey tribers.

As for disappearing websites, I'm with you Raz, this is a slap in the face not transparency!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
