In an early newspaper article after the GRACE Report came out
Boz made that memorable statement that words are fine
But it's the actions that matter, so let's wait and see.
We waited and waited and waited
And we didn't see.........
He tried to be hopeful as you must be to give
the other guy a chance.
Now he probably has a way different opinion of and experience
with ntm.
Not to mention some other miss. orgs.

Speaking of Truth and Transparency. Sometimes the whole world sees when you make a mistake.

Here is a video clip of yesterdays America's Cup Yacht Race, where the Kiwis made a monumental mistake and 4.5 million Kiwis suddenly believed that God had indeed rescued them as the boat was 1 degree from capsizing, which would have been a catastrophe.

Oh my word! That was an incredibly close call! :o A near capsize moment, but divine intervention kept them from catastrophe!

Some analogies could be drawn here, but I hesitate to "go there", as the ocean liner we are all keeping our eyes on is not actually being steered by an able Kiwi crew.

How To Count to 10, NTM Style (with comments by Bemused)

One: There is One True God...
(That's fine, Muslims and Jews agree too)

Two: There are two genders in this world, men to lead, women to do what they are told.
(No, no, we are different genders, but equal, Bemused is a feminist!)

Three: Is the number of man, sinful creature that needs to be saved.

Four: Is the number of the Trinity: Father, Son, NTM and another one.
(Even Bemused's theology knows that ain't right)

Five: God planted five seeds. That's how NTM began.
(Yes, I've read the book)

Six: Is the number of Continents: Asia, Africa, Antarctica, North America, South America and Europe.
(No, there are Seven Continents! Australasia did not change it's name to "Crossviewasia" and disappear)

Seven: There are seven deadly sins, none have been committed by anyone in NTM, but some former members long ago, might have made a few mistakes.
(Oh dear, reality check time)

Eight: The number of times that MKs need to forgive and forget the seven deadly sins that no one has committed.
(Oh dear, you can't ask for forgiveness without repentance, it doesn't work that way)

Nine: The number of decades since NTM was formed.
(Ummm, the maths department at Sanford came up with this one no doubt, it's the 1940s to 2010s or 70 years at the most)

Ten: For the ten disciples, Judas was dropped and Peter too, because he became a Catholic.

On NTM's web page today, under "Missionaries", http://usa.ntm.org/missionaries :

Under "A Few of our Missionaries Around the World", there are six random missionary couples featured.

FIVE of the six are "serving in United States".

ONE of the six is "serving in Asia-Pacific region".

I don't know why this bugs me so much.

But it does.

My Dear Raz,

If you check out point 5 in the post several above you will see the answer. The sequel to the book is "God planted five seeds (and one escaped over the border)"

Seriously though, I suspect it has several explanations. We live in a now comfortable western world, where commitment to causes is more ticking boxes and short term contracts, rather than the yesteryear missionaries (like our parents), who gave their all to follow their calling.
It's a bit like this site, many onlookers, but how many really stick their neck out?
And possibly another reason, NTM has become like a corporation, which means there are a lot of "chiefs" and less "Indians" (presume that is a know expression) i.e. there are a lot of positions being generated that actually have little to do with the core business plan. Essentially the corporation has become fat and lazy, gone are the days of a lean, mean, fighting machine. This is of course not what is being portrayed to the faithful donors, but facts do tend to speak for themselves.

Well that is my theory.

Sounds like a pretty good theory, to me.

For one who was a part of NTM back in the days when it WAS a "lean, mean, fighting machine", this is very sad.

:(
