Very good point JerryB. I sincerely hope those from NTM who read this think about this question.

I have tried many times to make this point with members of my family. They either can't or won't even discuss it. It's always "those Catholics" who have the problems. Or the rate of abuse would be even worse in the world without the Church (go figure). I think they are afraid as if they start considering the question then the proverbial Pandora's box will open. Well hello folks - its well and truly open!

Oh and the latest from a couple of weeks ago. Apparently the bible teaches that two people are needed to corroborate any allegation of sexual abuse. One woman's word alone is not sufficient as she could just be trying to ruin a good man's reputation, or "get attention". I kid you not - those were the words from my mother (who I love very dearly). Is it any wonder that such a low percentage of abuse is reported? I was very upset over this conversation as it has a very personal meaning for me (not within NTM but within the Church). We have kept to much safer topics of conversation ever since and yes apparently my continued questioning is "getting rather tiresome" ...... that's the word that has come back to me via others.

Sometimes I feel like I am going backwards. Husband says to give up and keep what is left of one's sanity and concentrate on all the wonderful things life and really living (as discussed on this site) have to offer.

Remember a while back I reserved the right to be despondent? Well, I am playing that card today.

I understand your frustrations 22 years ago. I found myself in a similar situation with my closest friend who still happens to be in ntm. However I didn't get any answers to my questions. Twice I have approached this friend in the past year on two subjects of abuse in ntm and both times repeatedly I was met with SILENCE. At first I thought maybe my messages were not going through, but then when I randomly talked about safe subjects I found that yes, my computer and email program were still working.

It is disgusting that the church is such an easy and known environment for predators. It is even more sick that christians are not willing to accept that fact or talk about it. Yet I am choosing to trust that God will enable us to get the message out. Things like Boz's interview and contacting Mike Huckabee are good starts. So let's keep encouraged in our battle for truth and an ending of abuse in religious organizations.

At the end of our mortal lives we who have spoken out will be able to say that we did something to end child abuse and that is something to be proud of.

How many little kids will now have "normal" lives now, because someone took the time to blow the whistle on Warren Kennell? We will never know because it is a rhetorical question, but Boz says in the interview that a caught offender will often have between 100 and 150 victims.

Every offender who is caught, is another group of children who will not know the horror too many of us did and if we have played a part in some small way in making this happen, then we can hold our heads up high.

Take heart, the tide of public opinion is turning against child abuse and the pressure is going on the Christian World to follow suit.

I also wrote Mike Huckabee. How awesome to see people like him take a stand against child abuse.

That's interesting. It is usually me that can't see or hear things, but can with this one clear as a bell. Just retried and it is still working fine.
Can't provide any light on why you can't connect, alas. My knowledge of computers is pretty basic.

I think it's got something to do with Quick time or some thing it uses to run. And my dilemma would fall where I don't have a clue what to do when those pop up....
