How much is all this costing?
If (according to World Vision and other charities), one can sponsor a child for just $1 per day, then there are whole tribes that could be sponsored for years with . . .

Oops wasn't that the original purpose, to reach Tribes?

So let's extrapilate this theme a little further.

NTM and other missions believe in an Almighty God, right? So Almighty He can do whatever He wants (Interupt me at any point, I'm the least qualified to expound theology), right?

Yet the same Almighty God, has been deemed completely unable to change the laws of a land, so that historical paedophiles who have committed crimes in someone elses country against the children of ones own members, go scot free.

So when did it become acceptable to deem God to have become useless? Why aren't "the good faithful folk" up in arms, demanding a law change? Imagine what the weight of numbers of all those "good folk" would do to those in power's ability to change laws. After all, do they really want to be known as a group that has harboured criminals and acted despicably?

I've written to Larry with my humble suggestions, but he must be busy as no reply yet.

So the situation seems completely ridiculous. Good folks of great faith, don't seem to be able to or particularly want to remove the bad apples from their midst and thereby let the rotteness spread to engulf the whole barrel.

Oh well, no doubt if I had more faith, then I would understand why those who do have great faith, don't believe that God is powerful enough to respond to demands for a law change.

Thanks to a question from our scarce friend Demostenes Dalai Mud Lama, I discovered an update from Pat Hendrix!

Tucked discretely away in the depths of the NTM website.

Apparently this is Pat's way of communicating important information to us. So be sure to check there at least every other day, as you wouldn't want to miss any important developments. This was posted three days ago. I apologize for not finding it sooner.

"IHART UPDATE

POSTED ON MARCH 14, 2013 by Pat Hendrix, IHART Coordinator

The Vianopolis, Brazil investigation began in May 2011. The Bolivia and Panama investigations began in January 2012. Following is an update on each investigation.

Brazil:

The scope of the investigation covers the fall 1983 to summer 1993. At the present time, nearly all individuals who have expressed a desire to provide information concerning abuse at Vianopolis school in Brazil have been contacted and interviewed. A few remain to corroborate information already obtained. The review, analysis and consolidation of information are ongoing and individuals requiring interviews continue to be identified. The interviews continue and those remaining will be conducted and completed in late March or early April 2013.

As various aspects of the investigation come together, portions of the Final Report are being completed. It is anticipated that the investigation will be completed, and a Final Report submitted in April 2013. This change is precipitated by the emergence of new materials. This time could be extended as we don’t know how long it will take to write the final report.

Bolivia:

The scope of the investigation covers 1959 to 2004 when the school was closed. The investigators have 1,056 people to attempt contact, which includes some staff as possible witnesses and/or survivors and/or perpetrators. This does not include other adult staff members.

During the month of February the Tambo investigative team has conducted at least six interviews in different parts of the country and is making progress on at least nine other interviews to be conducted.

Panama:

The scope of the investigation runs from 1962 to 2006. During January 2013, 14 interviews were conducted. An additional 47 individuals have been contacted and have yet to respond. The team is doing everything they can to be finished by mid to late summer 2013.

Recommendations Panel:

IHART is in the process of pulling together the Recommendations Panel for the Brazilinvestigation as well as other investigations.

The IHART Coordinator will put together a Recommendations Panel consisting of:

The IHART coordinator,
One of the investigators from that investigation,
One parent of an MK survivor (unrelated to MKs on the panel and not related to the current investigation),
One counselor with appropriate qualifications,
One pastor – or another person experienced in difficult situations and not associated with NTM or with any MKs, and
Two former NTM-USA MK’s, abuse survivors, chosen by the IHART Coordinator from a list of those contacted during non-related investigations.
If you know of anyone who would be qualified to serve please send their name and contact information to Pat Hendrix, IHART Coordinator at pat.mkguardian@gmail.com"

And now for my comments. :)

Brazil: Individuals requiring interviews continue to be identified. Changes in the schedule for the completion of the investigation are precipitated by the emergence of new materials. I would say this process is very open ended, and could last till the cows come home or Jesus comes to get us, whichever happens first.

Bolivia: The investigators have 1,056 people to attempt contact. During the month of February at least six interviews were conducted in different parts of the country and the investigators are making progress on at least nine other interviews to be conducted. 6+9=15. 1,056 -15=1,041.

Recommendations Panel:
The IHART Coordinator will put together a Recommendations Panel consisting of:
1. The IHART coordinator,
2. One of the investigators from that investigation,
3. One parent of an MK survivor (unrelated to MKs on the panel and not related to the current investigation),
4. One counselor with appropriate qualifications,
5. One pastor – or another person experienced in difficult situations and not associated with NTM or with any MKs, and
6 & 7. Two former NTM-USA MK’s, abuse survivors, chosen by the IHART Coordinator from a list of those contacted during non-related investigations.

I am probably overly picky or even paranoid, but ... I no longer see the stipulation here that the members of the Recommendations Panel will not be current members of NTM. This could apply to #3, 4, 6 & 7.

Okay. I'll shut up now.

From whatever amount of interviews have taken place
There MUST be enough info for court cases.
That is the only thing NTM is going to hear.
