Pat's answer to Bemused's question


It does mean parents of the survivors – those that are willing to talk to us. We will interview “all” alleged perpetrators that we can find.

The following statements are taken word by word from a confidential document (can't tell how I got it) by an organization (not-NTM) concerning my uncle's care. Names are deleted intentionally. How would you react if you knew this? What should be done to an organization that covered this up in this confidential document?

"Caregiver" takes the attitude that because boy (my uncle) is so large and her husband pays him a small wage that he is a hired man and it is not her job to worry about training and teaching the boy. Caregiver gives no attention to his clothing. Boy's clothing is in bad shape. Does not have enough to be comfortable. They are dirty. V asked caregiver about boy's clothing and she said she does not know, does not pay any attention. ---- Boy states he has only one ragged suit of underwear and only one denim work coat which is very dirty. ----- Boy states he finished 2nd year of high school. Said he wanted to complete his high school course. ------ Boy talked the matter over with caregiver who seemed to feel it would work rather a hardship on him as he would be able to do so little work on the farm if he attended school. ----- Boy told V.that he will work and save his money and go back to high school. Caregivers have no reason to dislike the boy. They are not so very well pleased, no doubt mostly because their object in having the boy is to help with the work. Caregiver does not dislike the boy but it has been stated above that she takes the attitude that he is a hired man and she does not bother with him. She remarked that she has reared a family and she doesn't feel that it is her job to do any more."

This is comes from an official document which is quite lengthy. It is quite sad to read it all but this is part of the story of my family that I never was allowed to know. I may have relatives somewhere but I don't know for sure to this day.

The cases of the Catholic clergyman/priests allowed for a more cut and dried investigations I believe.

Catholic clergy had not intermarried throughout the organization and built indoctrinated families immeshed in the church. It provided a clear line in the sand so to speak......a them and us situation. Bringing cases against various pedophiles in the Catholic church did not have the added emotive issues of abusers wives, sons and daughters defending their families honor/reputation at any cost. Neither has it had the extensive organizational intermarrying of those who hid abuse, shuffled the pedophiles and stone walled those seeking justice.

The strands stretching through out these groups are extensive. It will take the best surgeon, some dedicated hard work and a miracle to see justice. I say "justice"......not some willy nilly, airy fairy recommendations that will send absolutely no warning to those abusers sitting on the side lines looking on.

Again, I will say if you are expecting anything more to come out of IHart than recommendations you will be very disappointed. If thats "ok" with you thats fine....

I've been told God is the best surgeon and miracle worker so I'm going to hang on to that and when
he gets to the heart of these issues there will be no let up......he does a proper job.

Yes, for those seeking JUSTICE rather than "recommendations" the courts are the ONLY WAY TO GO.

Is going through the trauma of recounting/revisiting the past with investigators enough if it is part of a PR excercise to aid in the writing of "recommendations"? I don't doubt for many it will be enough to be heard but where is the justice in that?

Recommendations send no message to the abusers many of us have listed, the public at large OR individuals seeking to continue the exploitation of children though these religious groups.

Jane Doe No. 7 has really set the bar and is a hero.....I don't know that there will be many able or willing to match her.

radioshack, So right again, what good is recommendations? There is no authority to make them obeyed. Furthermore, if this is a Christian organization what in the world don't they know about abuse? Where are the churches, where are the missionaries, where are the people? What don't they get about making NTM accountable for their actions? This is insane that we are even having to discuss all this. This just isn't right. Full stop.

My Dear Dear Friends,

We must feel sorry for our unreached "friends" in NTM. So many are lost and have never heard of IHART and why it exists, yes they remain in darkness. Only the select few are privy to the scale of the task that IHART faces, those not fortunate to be enlightened remain with their heads firmly in the sand. But as we feel sorry for our "friends" in NTM who have not been enlightened, think of all those who support them in their darkness, yes the churches and individuals.
How can we leave these dear poor souls in darkness? My dear friends, reach out with your pen and voice, reach out and help those who don't know, those who don't want to know and those who know but don't want to admit they know.
Reach out, so that they may never honestly say, "no one ever told me". Bring enlightenment to where darkness now exists. Reach out.
