you can't think when all you want is to forget!!! nobody gets that!!!

Here is an idea, just a thought. Word of Life has the most beautiful Island in New York, Adirondack mountains and in the center of Schroon Lake. they also have an Inn at the top of a hill overlooking the lake. It is in the US but neutral and beautiful. You can look at it on line. little cabins etc. Only open in the summer. Just a thought

I don't really see the point of the whole thing in general - it sounds excruciating, frankly. The only way I would go to a repentance retreat of any kind is if it was in Senegal. I think it is important to remember the good things about the country we grew up in, and a paid trip there would be going above and beyond on NTM's part. I for one have less than any desire to meet up at a Christian retreat center somewhere with a bunch of the weird and judgmental MK's I grew up with and a bunch of awkward NTM executive types. If the decision is to not have it there, fine, I just won't go, but I for one am going to ask them to get the people to Senegal who want to go there.

Someone posted this on our FB page, and I thought it was a great idea.
"turn the tables, literally. Have the MKs, who want to, be seated on the platform and have the NTM leaders speak to them from the floor."
What do you all think?

A couple things:
*This whole thing makes me very anxious, so wherever we have it I would like it to be a place I can run from, so that I don't feel trapped
* Word of Life is a deff. no go for me. They are even more legalistic than NTM now is, and one point of speeking up against NTM is to crush legalism, which satan uses to steal Christian's joy.
*NTM needs to pay all expenses of this thing including and childcare we have to get to be able to go. It may be a shocker to them, but I have to carefully screen who I leave my kids with because I cannot bring myself to just leave them with just anyone available.
* I really like the idea of them sitting down with us sitting higher but if not I would really just like an apology from each and every person that includes the words, hurt, wounded, scared for life, sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, and spiritual abuse in it with no "but" at the end.

I am not a Fanda survivor, but let me offer my two cents worth.

As much as some of you like the idea of having the retreat in Senegal, it's probably not practical for a number of reasons. However, I don't think that it would be out of line at all for those of you who feel the need to go back there for some closure to request the necessary funds for that from the MK Fund that is being established. Perhaps even go back as a group. I would most certainly support you all in that effort.

It's been said "You can never go back, because things have changed". And while in some ways that may be very true, I found it very helpful to go back to my school grounds and walk around there as a free adult and be able to process a lot of the feelings that remained from that time.
