Wow.

The Titanic has hit the iceberg.

There was a slight thump. The chandeliers in the grand ballroom shivered a little. The passengers and crew members barely noticed.

They went on dining, drinking and dancing. And working, and serving, and doing their jobs.

This is a huge ship. The greatest ship on earth. Nothing can sink us.

Nothing.

Wow! Thai MK, you do some brilliant writing and I'm torn between thinking you have written another great piece of comedy and stunned disbelief. Has NTM PNG seriously gotten this big since we left? Why aren't we supporting the national people there to do the church planting/discipleship and any other jobs they can fill on this list. Why have we still got so many Europeans working there rather than the PNG people taking over...we should have handed things over long ago with only a support/guidance role as required from us "white fellas".

No wonder they need so much money for their big plans....have they got this in perspective or have they gotten carried away with their ideas? Economies and families are struggling all over the world. Does anyone know if NTM PNG is handing out mortages willy nilly as well.....if so we are going to have a repeat saga of the US economies collapse on a smaller scale shortly.

If they can't fill the vacancies perhaps it's time for some HONEST reflection.

It's called a wish list. The chances of getting everything one wants on a wish list is remote, but if you don't ask you don't get.
It's like what kids ask Santa for.

Imagine if all these people turned up, then you'd need builders to build houses for them, then you'd need teachers to teach the kids of the builders, then you'd need more builders to build houses for the teachers who are teaching the builders kids and so on and so forth.

Don't forget the most urgent needs:

A FULL TIME computer programmer is needed in PNG? What the hell are they doing over there? And, how much time and money will be wasted "programming" that programmer before he/she is allowed on the field to program anything?

This must be code for something.

A computer programmer? I needed a deprogrammer when I left.
And what on earth is an educational psychologist going to do?

Bemused, possibly the educational psychologist would be qualified to give the WISC test to determine learning disabilities. On top of that would be the work of helping those like yourself "deal with" their abuse. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Heaven knows what a WISC test is, but I doubt Bemused had any learning difficulties. Someone who can write the most insightful comments, then make us laugh with his humour and then cry when he rewrites a song we all know, despite suffering the abuse he obviously has, is obviously talented and well balanced.
NTM could do with the likes of real people like Bemused, not just people who say what others want to hear or the mumbo jumbo that we had to endure.

I am going out on a limb here; I don't have any documentation to back up this statement, though I heard it on good authority and believed it at the time, as I do now.

The word passed along to those of us rank and vile NOT in PNG was that it was all but impossible to fire a native worker under PNG law; hence it was better to have foreigners (not to say "whites") do as many jobs as possible, right down to maintenance.

We know how easy it is for NTM to fire the sheep!
