I'm sorry, I was reading back through e-mails and I realized that I was sent three letters of apology. I want to be fair to those who sent them. They were sincere apologies with no excuses given, written by people that had nothing to do with what happened at Via back then. They were total surprises. What makes me reluctant to say more or post them? I'm afraid they'll be picked apart here - I can handle being picked apart, but I don't want to expose people who are sweating it out in an electric chair for a crime that, as far as I know, they didn't commit. Also, it's embarrassing to have received three letters - what I went through at Via really can't compare to what others have gone through - much worse and for longer periods. I know we're not comparing sufferings, but I sincerely hope that others have received e-mails also. I will be writing to Pat at some point soon. Just wanted to let this be known.

I had the best of times and the worst of times in Via in the late 60s early 70s. When I even hear the words New Tribes, I run the other way. It's right up there with Mormonism and Muslim extremists, though not as violent. Still I do believe that religious fundamentalism is a cancer running rampant through the world. If there is a Satan, he's having fun with this movement. In the real world I have met many people of many different faiths, including atheists who have extremely loving compassion and courage and live by higher standards than I ever observed while my family was in the 'ministry' with New Tribes.

That is a sad indictment toward Christianity and I feel so bad for you. What has happened is wrong, wrong, wrong and why NTM doesn't humbly admit that FACT is wrong as well. Like I have said before when my granddaughter over here has had a bad experience I always tell her I am sorry and her comment is, "Oh Grandma, you didn't do it." What I am sorry for is that she had to go through a bad experience and even though I have never harmed any NTM mk what I am sorry for is that you had to go through such a horrible experience. Yes, I believe Satan has NTM right where he wants them. I pray this whole sin saga will someday end for all of you victims. Full stop.

I keep looking for the part where they say, "As the current leadership of NTM, we want you to know that NTM accepts full responsibility for the things that happened." Instead, I find that they carefully remind Courageous that they are "those currently responsible for the program at Via" [I.e., they aren't the ones who were responsible for the decisions made about Frank Parker]. The things that happened to her were not their "purpose or desire for this school" [I.e., not their fault].

They "desire that the truth of what happened be established." Is there some question? Are they afraid victims are lying? Or, are they astutely refusing to admit that these things really did happen? Scott Ross, any insights to offer us here?

They "desire that [victims] find healing for the wounds that these things have caused in your soul. We hope you will accept this humble apology. [It's not their fault that these (unnamed) things have caused wounds; it will help if you can just accept this humble apology and get over it.]

NTM did these things, not the former leaders. NTM now has a new crop of leaders, but that does not mean that NTM is not responsible for things NTM did under the old leaders. They have never admitted this! It's as if Chiquita Banana got all new executives and apologized for the mistakes made under previous leadership and offered a humble apology and prayed for NTM to find healing for those few missionaries who got killed and let's drop all this law suit stuff, after all, we are all Christians here at Chiquita…..

Why won't NTM say, "NTM is guilty of perpetrating these injustices, sins and crimes against MKs"?
