Yes it's like something bad or disappointing happens and you are trying to work thru that and someone says, "God has a purpose in it, God works all things together for good" etc... These things are all true but does that mean we just go along like nothing has happened like we don't feel anything? Actually comments like this really annoy me because I think, "you think I don't know that? What, you think I'm stupid? Of course I know that but that's really not helping me at all right now in fact it just makes me feel condemned and oppressed". Yes in a way I believe it is a form of control where they just want you to shut up because you are making them feel uncomfortable. I think God is big enough to handle our honest emotional outbursts, our frustration and pain. We all process grief and pain differently there is no exact time period where you say OK it's 6 months or 6 years I can move on now.

Titti,

An example of pouring out emotions in Ps 38:

9 All my longings lie open before you, Lord;
my sighing is not hidden from you.
10 My heart pounds, my strength fails me;
even the light has gone from my eyes.
11 My friends and companions avoid me because of my wounds;
my neighbors stay far away.
12 Those who want to kill me set their traps,
those who would harm me talk of my ruin;
all day long they scheme and lie.

13 I am like the deaf, who cannot hear,
like the mute, who cannot speak;
14 I have become like one who does not hear,
whose mouth can offer no reply.
15 LORD, I wait for you;
you will answer, Lord my God.
16 For I said, “Do not let them gloat
or exalt themselves over me when my feet slip.”

Love to all your family...maybe someday LM and your ten year old can play soccer together...if the Brazilian team turns your kid down...it would have to be (ugh) the US nationals! LM is doing stuff I can't believe w/ a soccerball...while doing the same with the electric guitar. If he keeps on passing me up at stuff..I may have to sell him to some passing Arabs! Not!

Had a bad thought on the way to work. No rroym out here since his posts on the Fredonia thread and no posts from Broken Angel either.

NTM did not tell or make those men & women abuse...therfore they are not responsible for the actions that those abusers took. They are however responsible for not taking action when they were told about these abuses. They are responsible for what has happened since these abuses were reported. They are responsible to take action on behalf of the victims.

However I do realize that in some cases the abuse was reported and NTM took no action or in some cases did not believe the abused. In these cases I do hold NTM accountable for any further abuse perpetrated by that person who was reported.

Unfortunately not all abuse at NTM boarding schools was reported until years later. In those cases I do not hold NTM accountable for the actual abuse. I do though hold them accountable for their actions once the abuse came to light.

If as an employer I have an employee who commits a felony, while in work related activities, which then warrants an investigation, if it is found that I have not completed adequate pre employment checks or provided adequate training with appropriate ongoing education. Then I am very much responsible for my employees actions, while in my service.
If NTM or any other employer says otherwise, I suspect they will find they are behind in legislative procedures. This also applies to subcontractors and tradespeople who I allow on to my place of employment, just in case NTM is of the opinion that it's missionaries are "self employed".

While NTM may have not told their missionaries to abuse, the evidence would suggest they didn't tell their missionaries not to abuse either. And when cases of abuse did arise, they were allowed to continue, such was the nature of the boarding schools and the hierachy.
