What is the point? It "took place more than four years ago"...and "the organization shouldn't be held liable for acts of an employee" So why tell victims Pat or anyone else is willing "to hear yours too"?

It is quite convenient for NTM to appeal to statutes of limitations when they are at fault. They do not have to deny that things happened; they can safely sidestep responsibility for the actions of their employees, since they happened so long ago.....

How does NTM treat people who have been divorced? Had a homosexual encounter when a teen?

Pureandundefiled, reportedly, US laws HAVE been changed now.

But if the new law has been used to bring a missionary pedophile to justice in recent years, I have not personally heard of this occurring. Perhaps others have. I do hope it will now be possible for the US court system to hold child abusers who commit crimes abroad accountable for their evil acts.

I thought the current law that passed during the second Bush administration abolished the statute of limitations. Remember, this was not retroactive, but if the current case occurred only 4 years ago...

Three Willows, the "four years" reference comes from the Orlando Sentinel article which is about the second lawsuit recently filed. In the article, they also write about the Jane Doe 7 lawsuit, which NTM is petitioning to be thrown out. According to the article, the two reasons NTM feels they shouldn't be held accountable for Les Emory's rampage at Aritao are: it happened too long ago, and the mission shouldn't be held liable for criminal acts one of their members has committed.

Given the condition of our fallen world today, I fear it is inevitable that one day another case of child abuse in NTM will be discovered. If it is more recent and has occurred within the past four years, NTM will then be tested as to their response, which I hope and pray will be far different than the way they have responded to the multiple cases of child abuse in Senegal, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, the Philippines and Papua New Guinea. Apparently, in their opinion, all those cases happened too long ago, so it's the victims' fault for not speaking up sooner.
