Oh Bloody Hell, recommendations panels, executive boards, Uncle Tom Cobley and the Saints buggered off!!!!!

This is a very round about way of finding out what we already know.

The key word is GUILTY, the next word is SORRY and then it is HOW DO WE MAKE AMMENDS?.

Meanwhile, guess who will be getting well paid for all this?

In the meantime, PNG MKs take a number and be patient, it's going to be a long long wait. And if you are a Downunder MK, well who really cares (except them crazy Fanda Eagles people :o ), after all Crossview has washed their hands of the whole issue, they're not even NTM any more, so just curl up in the corner and . . . . . . .

Thank YOU Dbarney for posting about the Ihart investigation.

It is sadly obvious to me from comments on here that past missionary parents of MK's and MK"s themselves would not have known about this if you weren't so kind as to post it. Thank YOU.!!!

What is the goal of the IHART/NTM investigations into abuse of missionaries' children?

Perhaps we have not asked the right questions. Perhaps we didn't examine this clearly enough. Perhaps we assumed, based on what we saw in the GRACE report on Fanda, that we knew what the goals were.

Maybe my frustration over the end product of the Vianopolis investigation reflects my own unsubstantiated assumptions that when we use the word "investigation", we MKs and New Tribes Mission had the same end goal in mind.

First, let's look at goals of other investigations, as expressed in their final reports.

From the Freeh Report on Penn State.

http://progress.psu.edu/assets/content/ ... 071212.pdf

(Oh great, I have to re-type it.)

As Special Investigative Counsel, Freeh Sporkin and Sullivan was asked to perform an independent, full and complete investigation of
- The alleged failure of Pennsylvania State University personnel to respond to, and report to the appropriate authorities, the sexual abuse of children by former University football coach Gerald A Sandusky;
- The circumstances under which such abuse could occur in University facilities or under the auspices of University programs for youth.

In addition, the Special Investigative Counsel was asked to provide recommendations regarding governance, oversight and administrative policies and procedures that will better enable the University to prevent and more effectively respond to incidents of sexual abuse of minors in the future.

(There is more, but it's a lot to type. Please click on the link and read it for yourself, starting on page 8.)

From the PCUSA Final Report of the Independent Abuse Review Panel

https://www.pcusa.org/site_media/media/ ... report.pdf

pgs 2 &3:

The common questions and concerns that (abuse) reporters have are these:

1. Is the abuse still occurring? Reporting is often motivated by a desire to keep an
offender from harming any other children.

2. Was there really abuse? Reporting often reflects a desire to have the church
acknowledge the reality of what happened.

3. How many people were harmed by this offender? Reporting allows determination of
the extent of the abuse.

4. How can abuse be prevented? Reporting may be prompted by the desire that no other
child have an abusive experience. Prevention has two facets: the church and missionary
parents. Both parties’ decisions determine the mission field conditions under which
children live, so both parties can learn from the past what to improve for children now
and in the future.

5. How can the offender be held accountable? Reporting may be motivated by a desire
that the offender recognize the extent and nature of the damage they have caused, be held
accountable for this damage, and have the opportunity for repentance based on this full
understanding and accounting of their actions and their consequences.

And from pg 4:

The ultimate goal of a fact-finding inquiry is the truth: To seek and report full
information answers questions, allowing resolution for the parties who raise the
questions. With facts in hand, victims can engage healing more fully, while offenders
can become more justly accountable, potentially allowing each to experience the rich
benefit of deeper, more firmly rooted, relationships with family members, with MKs,
with adult missionaries, with faith communities. With factual information, churches can
better prevent current or future abuse.

From the GRACE Final Amended Report for the Investigatory Review of Child Abuse at New Tribes Fanda Missionary School.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/36559323/Amen ... ed-Edition

This report details the abuse of the children at the Fanda boarding school, the environment that made the abuse possible, and the feeble response to its aftermath. The report also offers recommendations to aid the children and the families who were physically and emotionally scarred by those who worked at and who maintained the boarding school.
