What is anyone’s reaction to the following?

This married staff member (let’s call them X) shared with more than one student highly inappropriate details of events in their marriage, including references to sexual activities & bodily functions. X frequently made comments about young people of the opposite sex and how good looking they were. These comments included kids much younger than X – both American students and locals who lived in the town.

X invited students into their home and showed movies that included sex scenes & nudity (they fast-forwarded sometimes, missed the opportunity to FF at other scenes).

X developed a crush on a student & shared their crush with the student’s younger sibling, relaying their desire to be alone with, touch, & confess their feelings for that student.

X offered their home as a meeting place for two students who were interested in each other. X made sure their home was empty & made themselves scarce while these students remained alone for hours, breaking the rules. X asked for details and encouraged physical activity between the students – although never actually stating the words.

Is this sexual abuse? Is this insanity? Mental instability? Pedophilia? Or just gross bad behavior?

Sexual abuse and pedophilia if the students were under age.

Mine didn't post right but it would be pedophilia, if acted on. I would say sexual abuse if only talked about.

I think letting it go would-be a mistake. A lot of sexual abuse gets started and continues in increments, as it doesn't seem "that bad."

It sounds like this person must have had both emotional and mental problems. This was not very adult behavior. Much to free conversations and unwise situations. Why would an adult be haning out with kids and vice versa. I would talk to the two students and find out their ages and what happened at the house.

I cannot speak to the law on this, but it is sin. Sounds like "x" was using others to satisfy his own desires. How deceitful of "x" to make it sound like he was doing those kids any favor by giving them alone time. At the very least, he was defrauding others, which scripture says is wrong. X was not avoiding, X was encouraging it, taking advantage of their youthfulness, and it is pretty clear hear what God thinks of His people doing that:

3It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4that each of you should learn to control his own body[a] in a way that is holy and honorable, 5not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; 6and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him.
