If you would like, I am willing to start an iPetition for the purpose of collecting signatures to convey to NTM that collectively, we believe that GRACE or another outside agency approved by the MKs involved in the ongoing abuse investigations is the best and most acceptable vehicle for conducting any further abuse investigations within NTM's schools. Please let me know if you are interested in this, or if you think it will have any effect (pro or con). Otherwise, I'll just assume no one thinks it's a good idea. Just from my quick perusal of the iPetition site, I may need another person willing to head this up with me, depending on the time involvement. If anyone is willing, please let me know. |

I'd be honored to sign. But, I am not optimistic that NTM, Inc. is very responsive to "outsiders." |

I support the idea of a petition and would sign it! N.T.M is an international organization with missionaries from all over the world. This pertiton may provide an avenue of support from around the world. The mission would not like you having an avenue into supporting churches but this may put pressure on the mission to continue in the current direction with Grace at the forefront. If healing is ever to take place, the mission needs MK and supports and church leaders confidence in them at the moment a big question mark hangs over the mission |

How do we envision putting together a petition, exactly? Most of us are not using our real names on this Forum. We all have our reasons for that. I personally have no qualms about revealing my own name to the NTM leadership (I don't believe they're called the Executive Committee anymore, though it's been hard to keep up with all the changes, now that I'm an "outsider".) But I would like to keep my alias for my participation on this site. Would it still look like a petition if someone (or a group) composed a petition, posted it on here, and then we could each individually copy it and send it to Sanford through our own personal e-mail? Just trying to think this through, while not wanting to "go public" with my name (not to protect myself, but because of my children's desire for privacy). |

This is one of the good sites to start a petition: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/create.html?s_kwcid=TC|6715|the%20petition%20site||S||5914607310 Also Change.ORG is a great one: http://www.change.org/start-a-petition They are easy to start. its getting the word out that takes time. I think this is a great Idea. |

I'm not sure how much influence an online petition would really have. It's too easy to support one and almost impossible to verify if any of it is legitimate. IMHO, a much more effective campaign would be that everyone who wants to express their views, write them out politely in an actual letter and mail it, certified, signature required, deliver to adressee only, to Larry Brown at NTM HQ. (Cost in US is about $8 total, less if you don't opt for the restricted delivery.) If they refuse delivery, that would be very telling. If they don't, there's no way they can deny they got them. |

Posted a reply but it got lost in cyberspace somewhere, so I will try again... One of the main purposes I see in a petition is that it would raise more awareness, not necessarily that NTM would suddenly realize they are wrong. I never heard a word about this website, the abuse within NTM, etc, until about 6 weeks ago or so when friends of mine within NTM passed the Fanda/GRACE report to each other on Facebook. Otherwise, I probably still wouldn't know about this. I also like JerryB's idea of a letter that requires a signature. As far as the actual signing of the petition, the website I looked at puts the petition at whatever website you choose, people "sign" it and then when you close the petition you send it to the party you are petitioning. I don't think that signing the petition would link any of you who are anonymous here on this website to your real names. Everything is very much however you want to do it, from what I can understand. Some of you expressed a desire to do a petition, so I will look further into it. If there are more of you on the fence as far as potential efficacy of a petition, I'd like to know if you at least would like to pursue one for the sake of spreading the word? |
