You too, are making a lot of sense, Bemused.

There are a handful of us fellow-travelers who have been trudging together down this winding, weary road for so long, we know each other's stories well, and can practically finish each other's sentences.

Sometimes I wonder too, when I will come to an exit ramp and be able to depart this road gracefully.

Each of us will need to listen to our own hearts telling us whether to keeping pressing on, or if our contributions have come to their natural end.

I appreciate each of my friends who have been with me on this journey. Some are still in view. Some are no longer heard from. I respect and support each person and their choices.

Just as I know they respect mine.

Please don't exit, you are the only hope. I feel I have little to contribute but maybe New Tribes will have to pay for what they have done and I am not necessarily talking about $. I doubt these organisations will cease, which I think they should, but at least they may be held to some accountable and acknowledge what they have allowed. ABWE's exposure would never have happened had it not been for bangladeshmksspeak, we can be thankful for social media. Fullstop.

When the GRACE Report came out about Fanda---I think I shook all the way thru when reading.
The culture described was all too familiar even tho I had never been to Africa at that point.
The big questions was--will ntm listen to the recommendations and will they be willing to change.
It turned out that they weren't.
'Time will tell' goes the saying and time has shone that they are not honorable.
ABWE seems to be doing better than that.

I finished reading the report and from what I gather Pii is still doubtful about ABWE's self protection versus child protection. I was cranky at Dr. Al Cockrell's little talk, a bunch of spin is my conclusion. Fullstop.

I hadn't watched the video until now, I had read the statement. When I heard Al say that the protection of missionaries and their families must be primary, even if that means the dissolution of the organization, it reminded me of the first few days after reading the Fanda report. I talked at length with a current member of NTM at that time, who expressed the sorrow, using words very much like what Al had said in this video.

What saddened me was that these sentiments didn't seem to endure much past the first weeks and months after the release of the report. That shock, sorrow, repentance, and contrition to the point of wondering if and whether the organization of NTM should endure metabolized into a return to routine, mixed with some lingering regret but with a desire to move forward and leave the past in the past. A few years later, when someone stopped working for the organization because of NTM's present course, they couldn't understand, and wondered what more was expected of the mission in addition to what they were already doing. FandaEagles was brushed off as a place where people were just angry and nothing would be enough for them.

Reflecting on this, I hope for the victims of ABWE that this same evolution of attitude and action does not happen. I also continue to hope for justice and healing for the victims of NTM.
